After DNA testing, it was proved that Birkhead is Dannielynn’s original father, and after a press conference in April 2007, Larry excitedly told the reporters that he hates to be the one to say it, but he told them so. Soon later, the father and daughter left the Bahamas for Louisville, Kentucky. It is where Anna Nicole’s daughter would be raised ultimately for the next decade.

Adele said that her roots are there so she took great comfort in him and the bigger her career got, in trying to remain herself because she finds it truly an honor.

A few days prior to the 2017 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced that this year’s ceremony will remember the legacies of Prince and George Michael with a pair of unforgettable tribute segments.

Producers did not reveal which artists would take part in the specific tributes, though it was previously announced that John Legend will perform the show’s In Memoriam segment. It turned out the rumors was inaccurate.

Robyn Rihanna Fenty, her real name, is a Barbados native raised in Bridgetown. She entered the music industry by recording her demo tapes in 2003 and rose to fame in 2005 with the release of her first album titled “Music of the Sun.”

Her popularity in the music business did not hinder her efforts to extend help to her native Barbados and pay forward the blessings she has been receiving continuously.

In the latest announcement posted in Harvard University’s online site, the singer is scheduled to come to campus to personally receive the award and probably give an inspirational speech to motivate the aspiring young ones expected to be present during the event.

In 2012, Rihanna also founded the non-profit Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program for students attending college in the United States from Carribean countries. She has likewise supported the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which gives college students from 60 developing countries the opportunity to have an education.

The program envisions awarding qualified students with scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to be admitted to a four-year college degree in the US. To be eligible, applicants should be from the US, Cuba, Brazil, Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti, and Rihanna’s native place of Barbados.

The pooling process for selecting 50 candidates happened last year and a lot of college students were given the opportunity to pursue their college education.

Rihanna said in a recent interview that she was greatly honored for having the chance to give many children an opportunity for education.

The “Stay” singer expressed excitement over the fact that higher education is a key to providing deserving students an opportunity to get a bright future.

Rihanna actually maintains a website for the Clara Lionel Foundation to help continue her advocacy by inviting volunteers to help the foundation find new children who could be qualified for the scholarship program on the way to education and brighter future.

The “Umbrella” singer has not only proven her worth as a musician, she has proven to her fans and colleagues in the music industry that she is also a model for humanitarian service which is why they think she deserves every inch of the honor to be given to her by Harvard University.

The “Humanitarian Award of the Year” is usually given by the Harvard Foundation to prominent public-spirited leaders each year in honor of the late Rev. Professor Peter J. Gomes.

Previous awardees include actor James Earl Jones, Nobel Peace Prize committee chairman Thorbjorn Jagland, physician-statistician Hans Rosling, gender rights advocate Malala Yousafzai, tennis player and activist Arthur Ashe, and former Health and Human Services Director Louis Sullivan.

The awarding ceremony for Rihanna will happen in the university’s Sanders Theatre with limited tickets to be distributed before the event, although admission is free.

Meanwhile, another rewarding moment comes along for Rihanna as she once again made it back into the top 10 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart with her latest album titled “Love on the Brain.”

It was clear that the verses on Nicki’s collaboration with Gucci Mane also hints of her disgust on her competition, as she brags about being the queen of rap who has a had a handful of chart-topping and top-selling records to be labeled as No. 1.

Many fans and critics have assumed that Remy Ma’s song was her response to Nicki Minaj’s subliminal lyrics.

In “ShEther”, Remy Ma extensively raps the song with the list of Nicki Minaj’s slew of past mistakes, which actually made the track a mockery of the “Anaconda” singer.

The rap song also mentions of Minaj’s sense of style, the men she slept with like Gucci Mane and Drake, as well as her recent feud with Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey.

Baby Fatemeh has a life-threatening heart defect and she and her family needed to go to the US for treatment.

But everything is in the past now as Baby Fatemeh and her family already made it to the US, not because of the concession granted by the US President but because of the decision of a federal judge to halt the implementation of the executive order one day after it was issued on February 3.

The baby, who recently received the go-ahead to travel to the United States, was undergoing diagnostic tests at Oregon Health & Science University’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. And early results were promising.

Urgent need for treatment

Dr. Laurie Armsby, associate professor of pediatrics and interim head of the hospital’s pediatric cardiology division, said that Baby Fatemeh looks really well. The tests conducted to her upon her arrival at the Oregon hospital have confirmed her diagnosis and the urgent need for treatment.

Baby Fatemeh and her family had been scheduled to meet with doctors in Portland on February 5 but Trump’s order prevented them from traveling from Tehran, Fatemeh’s uncle, Samad Teghizadeh said.

The order had barred citizens from the seven countries from entering the US for 90 days, all refugees for 120 days and indefinitely halted refugees from Syria.

On February 4, a federal judge temporarily stopped the order. Two days later, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco denied the US government’s emergency request to resume the ban, reports Fox 31 Denver.

The court ordered both sides to submit arguments for and against the ban before a final ruling.

Structural abnormalities and two holes in her heart

Baby Fatemeh became one of the faces of dozens of foreign nationals caught up in the order. The trip to the United States was essential after doctors in Tehran told her family last month that she has structural abnormalities and two holes in her heart.

The family lacked the resources to treat the infant. Baby Fatemeh and her parents had boarded a flight to Dubai, United Emirates, but they were rerouted back to Iran and told to apply for a US visa in 90 days.

Teghizadeh said he was worried his niece wouldn’t make it until then. An American citizen for seven years, he lives in Portland with his parents, Baby Fatemeh’s grandparents, who also are US citizens. Baby Fatemeh succeeded with help from all corners.

Attorneys contacted the State Department to help the family obtain the waiver to navigate the ban. Fatemeh’s family reached out to the office of Sen. Jeff Merkley, a Democrat from Oregon.

State and federal officials intervened. Several congressional Democrats from the Oregon, including Merkley, asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to grant the waiver for the girl and her parents.

Doctors throughout the United States, Canada and Germany responded to calls for help, Amber Murray, the Washington-based immigration attorney working on the case said early this month. Doctors at OHSU Doernbecher agreed to waive their fees, and the hospital pledged to ensure that most of the surgery was already covered.

The International Refugee Assistance Project arranged the family’s travel.

On February 3, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the infant and her family had received the necessary boarding documents to come to the US.

Doing nothing to address conflict of interest

While the Trump family knows that they are now in the public spotlight as well as their respective vocations, Donald Trump and his family have done little to assuage concerns that they see the White House as a cash cow.

The President has deviated from tradition by refusing to release his tax returns. He ignored pleas from the Office of Government Ethics, which called on him to fully divest his holdings in order to avoid dragging mounds of conflicts of interest into the Oval Office.

Shattering any plausible deniability

It seems that the Trump family has further put itself in a major spotlight and took away any semblance of plausible deniability of their alleged greed and their transactional view of the most powerful job in the world when US First Lady Melania Trump lodged a defamation lawsuit against The Daily Mail’s website in a New York State court.

Melania Trump sued the online publication over a story published last year that included a baseless claim that the former model once worked as an escort.

Many people believe that the 46-year-old Mrs. Trump is certainly entitled to challenge the accuracy of that allegation and to argue that it was defamatory.

But her assessment of the damage claim that it has done to her earning potential is galling and revelatory. As a result of the report published in August, Mrs. Trump contends in the suit, her brand has lost significant value, and major business opportunities that were otherwise available to her have been lost and/or substantially impacted. The suit offers no specific examples of lost business opportunities for her.

The timing of the story was particularly injurious, according to the lawsuit, considering that Mrs. Trump had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person, as well as a former professional model and brand spokesperson, and successful businesswoman, to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multimillion-dollar business relationships for a multiyear term during which plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world.

That is the gist of how Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg came to the decision to adopt groundbreaking family-friendly policies with regards to family bereavement especially in cases where there is a death of a loved one.

Sandberg said on February 7 that Facebook is taking another step in providing bereavement leave and flexibility to all its employees.

She announced that effective immediately the company is extending its paid bereavement leave to up to 20 days to grieve the death of an immediate family member and up to 10 days to grieve the death of an extended family member, details the Business Insider.

Comes at a critical time

Facebook is also expanding its paid family leave to up to six weeks for employees to care for a sick relative. Finally, the company is also introducing paid family sick time, which offers employees three days to take care of a family member with a short-term illness like the flu.

The news comes at a critical time for American families because under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, qualified Americans are guaranteed 12 weeks of reasonable leave for certain family and medical situations including caring for a family member with a serious health condition.

While the law requires companies with 50 or more employees to provide new parents with 12 weeks of leave, it doesn’t require the leave to be paid, and the policy is also restricted to full-time employees who have been with the company for more than a year, which, all told, applies to about 60% of workers in the US.

Though the number of companies expanding their paid parental leave benefits is rising, Sandberg acknowledged that it’s less common for employees to get paid time off to care for sick loved ones, saying that the US needs public policies that make it easier for people to care for their children and aging parents and for families to mourn and heal after a loss.

She said that people should be able both to work and be there for their families and that no one should face that trade-off.

Back in May 2015, Sheryl Sandberg’s husband, Dave Goldberg, died unexpectedly in Mexico during a trip.

She narrated that amid the nightmare of Dave’s death when her kids needed her more than ever, she was grateful every day to work for a company that provides bereavement leave and flexibility which she needed both to start her recovery.

Companies need to take the lead

Given the fact that the country lacks federal paid family leave policy, Sandberg said companies need to take the lead and support families with their own paid leave policies, which she said wouldn’t just be nice to do, but would also improve the bottom line by increasing employee loyalty and performance.

She said that she hopes more companies will join Facebook and others making similar moves because America’s families deserve support.

Facebook’s announcement of an extended bereavement leave policy, though not unheard of in the Silicon Valley, is about to become a staple for many companies, says one Silicon Valley staffing office.

Ireneo Mendoza, the regional vice president for Robert Half’s Silicon Valley office, said he expects the company’s decision to extend time to mourn and help sick family members to trickle down to the rest of the Silicon Valley companies, notes the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
