While most eyes of today’s users are now on the latest flagship smartphone of Samsung, particularly the Galaxy S6, the Samsung Galaxy S3 continues to hold sway as one of the most dependable and bankable flagship handsets of all time.
During its launch in 2012 as the Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was regarded as the fastest handset in the world, in as far as processing is concerned. By this time however, the title has come and gone to various flagship devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is actually the most successful Android phone of all time and despite the coming of subsequent flagship smartphones from various smartphone makers in the following years, it continues to hold its own in terms of features and specifications, not to mention durability.
In fact, it was because of the humungous success of the Samsung Galaxy S3 that has made its successor, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the most widely-anticipated flagship smartphone of 2013.
Indicative of how durable the Galaxy S3 is, Samsung has been including the handset in its regular software updates especially with the release of Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop late last year.
Since then, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has taken on a few more over-the-air system updates but not the bigger firmware update, the Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Making it at par with competition
But leave it to the tech community to innovate and make a three-year-old flagship device be at par with the latest handsets in as far as operating system and other features are concerned.
Mobile software developer community Resurrection Remix has recently rolled out a new customs ROM to Samsung Galaxy S3 that is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop that practically delighted sentimental users almost to no end.
With a size of 229 MB, the new custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a lot of shortcut for easy access to key apps, new visual interface, and customization options for the 2012 flagship smartphone.
Among the customization features of the new custom ROM of Samsung Galaxy S3 include the theme chooser, which includes the Resurrection Remix’s exclusive pitch black theme, animations, gestures anywhere feature, app circle bar, recents panel, clock widget, lockscreen, notification drawer, quick slider shortcuts, all-new CM audio FX app, performance tweaks, and other UI-enhancing features, details the India edition of the International Business Times.
Resurrection Remix however advised users that there are pre-requisites before Samsung Galaxy S3 users can take on the new custom ROM with the Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware on it.
