‘Orange is the New Black’ Actor Michael Harney Confirms He Will Continue to Represent the Mentally Ill Community in Season 5!

Throughout the past four seasons, Piper and Alex faced several hurdles concerning their relationship including a new love interest for Piper in Season 3. But with what happen to her during Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black,” there are reports saying that Alex shall be relying more on Piper Chapman in Season 5 for strength.

Assuming the rumors are true, it would be an interesting development for many fans of the show who have been waiting for the rekindling of romance between Piper and Alex.

During the recently concluded fourth season of “Orange is the New Black,” Litchfield counselor Sam Healy, played by Michael Harney, was clearly shown as someone he is not doing very good at all at his job.

The fourth season of the TV series took a well-deserved deeper look at the character including Healy’s painful childhood with a mentally-ill mother that led to an even more painful lonely adulthood that left him personally and professionally disconnected from practically everyone in his life.

Then came Lolly Whitehill, who is also an inmate with a colorful history of mental illness.

The merging of the stories of Healy and Whitehill sparked a genuine and sweet friendship that shed lights on the realities of dealing with mental illness issues.

It also turned out to be one of the most compelling and tear-jerking storylines for Season 4.
