What is clear and consistent among the speculations is that Season 5 of “Longmire” will provide the answer to the cliffhanger left during the Season 4 finale regarding the identity of the intruder that cut short the romantic interlude of Walt and Donna Sue.
It was a bit frustrating for the viewers that just when Longmire was having that romantic tryst with Donna Sue, an intruder barged in who had the intention of killing the sheriff.
“Longmire” used to air on the A&E Network but after Season 3, the network announced that it will no longer be renewing the show for a fourth season. Netflix eventually rescued Season 4 from cancellation.
While the show was generating a good number of viewers, it was not bringing in the advertisers to be able to survive.
Ted Sarandos, Head of Content Acquisition of Netflix, said that he is happy with the way “Longmire” has been doing because Netflix does not differentiate among its viewers on the basis of their demography.
It was a swipe on A&E, which obviously differentiated among its viewers because it believed that “Longmire” did not meet their standard when it comes to the age of the audience, cites the Day Herald.
Since “Longmire” was meant for an older audience, A&E advertisers forced the network to cancel the show and replace it with another that would bring in a lot of the younger audience.
