‘Longmire’ Season 5 to Feature the Blossoming Romance Between Walt Longmire and Victoria Moretti? Let’s See

Season 5 of the American Western action crime drama TV series “Longmire” is set to premiere this year on Netflix but the streaming service has yet to make an announcement regarding its exact release date.

Thus far, what is confirmed is that Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, would be back in longer episodes compared to the time until its third season when it was still being shown on the A&E Network.

The fifth season of “Longmire” shall have 10 episodes just like its previous seasons but each episode would approximately run for an hour, about 15 to 18 minutes longer than its usual 42 to 45 minutes average air time when it was still being broadcast by the A&E Network.

The longer running time allows the showrunner to focus on other characters in the TV series apart from Walt Longmire because “Longmire” has a lot of very interesting characters that need good exposure in the show for viewers to appreciate them and their roles.

Romance in the making

As far as the possible plotline for “Longmire” Season 5 is concerned, latest reports have it that Sheriff Walt Longmire and his Deputy Sheriff Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti, played by Katee Sackhoff, will have a possible romantic future in the show, reports the International Business Times of India.

The speculations started swirling when the “Longmire” Facebook page recently showed a profile of Walt and Vic together with the caption asking for the future of the two characters in the TV show.

The TV series is actually based on the book series called “The Walt Longmire Mysteries” where Walt and Vic shared a romantic tension. But most fans of the TV series are against the idea of Walt and Vic being a couple.

They believe that because of the glaring age difference, Vic is too immature for Walt and that the Sheriff only sees her as more of a daughter than a love interest in the show.

But some fans also like the idea that the TV show follows what is written in the books for a change. If that is the case, at least, they would know that the TV series is following the excellent storyline written in the books.

Too many men in her lives

Before moving to Wyoming, Vic Moretti is a former homicide detective from Philadelphia. She is married to Sean Keegan and their relationship had its share of ups and downs to the point where Sean even suspected that his wife was having an affair with her boss, Walt Longmire.

Prior to getting married to Sean, Vic also had an affair with her married superior officer, Ed Gorski, while in Philadelphia. Vic was eventually forced to leave town after she turned in Gorski’s partner, Bobby Donolato, which led the latter to commit suicide and Gorski swearing revenge on her.

In one of the previous episodes of “Longmire,” Vic and Sean were having a vacation when they ended up being abducted and assaulted by Chance Gilbert and his group of separatists.

They were eventually rescued by Walt Longmire and Gorski. In the aftermath, Sean demanded that Vic turns in her two weeks’ notice in the county. When she did not do what her husband wanted to, Sean had the Sheriff serve her with divorce papers. She eventually hooked up with a former friend Deputy Branch Connally, but she is generally single since.

So seeing Longmire having that romantic interlude with Vic may just be a fleeting moment and not for keeps as it seems that the Sheriff has his eyes on Dr. Donna Sue Monahan, played by Ally Walker.

In fact, the Season 4 cliffhanger was about an intruder which interrupted the intimate moments of Longmire and Dr. Monahan.
