Production for Season 5 of the American crime-drama TV series “Longmire” on Netflix will begin on March 23 and reports have it that the first episode of the upcoming season will pick up right after the Season 4 finale episode.
This means that Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, shall be able to know the identity of the intruder who broke into his house while he and Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan, played by Ally Walker, were having their intimate moments.
However, there are also reports saying that the attacker’s target is not actually Longmire but Dr. Monaghan and it would be interesting to find out what his or her motives are in carrying out the assault.
But then, there are also reports saying that the attacker is in cahoots with Dr. Monaghan and that the reason why the doctor was getting chummy with Longmire was to distract the latter so that the assailant can make his or her move, points out the Ecumenical News.
Summer release date?
Season 5 is expected to premiere in September this year, although there are reports that it could even come out earlier or around the summer. The setting for Season 5 of “Longmire” will still be New Mexico just like its first four seasons, reports Yibada.
Following the cliffhanger during the Season 4 finale, there have been speculations that the attacker could be the same person who burned the van.
Lou Diamond Phillips also revealed through a post on his Twitter account that “Longmire” shall indeed begin filming next week.
The fifth season of “Longmire” shall have 10 episodes just like its previous seasons but each episode would approximately run for an hour, about 15 to 18 minutes longer than its usual 42 to 45 minutes average air time when it was still being broadcast by the A&E Network.
More focus on the characters
The longer running time allows the showrunner to focus on other characters in the TV series apart from Walt Longmire because “Longmire” has a lot of very interesting characters that need good exposure in the show for viewers to appreciate them and their roles.
As far as the possible plotline for “Longmire” Season 5 is concerned, latest reports have it that Sheriff Walt Longmire and his Deputy Sheriff Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti, played by Katee Sackhoff, will have a possible romantic future in the show.
The speculations started swirling when the “Longmire” Facebook page recently showed a profile of Walt and Vic together with the caption asking for the future of the two characters in the TV show.
The TV series is based on the book series called “The Walt Longmire Mysteries” where Walt and Vic shared a romantic tension. But most fans of the TV series are against the idea of Walt and Vic being a couple.
They believe that because of the glaring age difference, Vic is too immature for Walt and that the Sheriff only sees her as more of a daughter than a love interest in the show.
But some fans also like the idea that the TV show follows what is written in the books for a change. If that is the case, at least, they would know that the TV series is following the excellent storyline written in the books.
Before moving to Wyoming, Vic Moretti is a former homicide detective from Philadelphia. She is married to Sean Keegan and their relationship had its share of ups and downs to the point where Sean even suspected that his wife was having an affair with her boss, Walt Longmire.
