Caroline Dries, executive producer of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” on The CW, says that the second half of Season 7 will make viewers feel that they are watching a completely different show.
“The Vampire Diaries” is currently on its customary winter break and will be back on January 29, 2016 for its mid-season premiere. The TV series used to be aired every Thursday on The CW but because of some programming changes, the network moves it to Friday beginning next year in what critics feel is an excellent strategy to solidify its hold on the timeslot.
In a recent interview, Dries said that the second part of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will begin with an entirely different theme that avid fans and viewers would not expect to see in the popular supernatural romance drama TV series, details the Christian Today.
She added that the show will be dealing with the fallout from the winter finale both emotionally and plot-wise.
In addition, Dries also mentioned of the significant time jump in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 since the babies of Caroline, played by Candice Accola, will be born soon.
Although they are conceived with the help of magic, the babies inside Caroline’s womb will still have the typical nine-month development stage.
During the fall finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” much of the focus of the show was on Caroline’s surprising pregnancy as well as the plans of brothers Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, and Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, to kill Julian, notes the International Business Times of UK.
A cruel vampire hunter
The second half of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” will also feature the entry of a cruel vampire hunter named Rayna, to be played by Leslie-Anne Huff. Rayna will reportedly go after Stefan.
The confirmed entry of Leslie-Anne Huff also triggered speculations among fans that the actress was tapped because she looks like former show female lead star Nina Dobrev.
Dries eventually clarified that Huff’s seeming likeness with Dobrev is just coincidental and has nothing to do with the show’s plotlines at all.
In fact, the executive producer said that she has not personally met Leslie-Anne yet but what she knows of her is that she is a great actress and is perfect for the role of the vampire hunter Rayna.
The best of Season 7
Ian Somerhalder revealed that fans should really look forward to seeing episode 10 of “The Vampire Diaries.”
Episode 10 is the mid-season premiere of “The Vampire Diaries” and it will air on January 29 after the show’s winter hiatus.
According to Ian Somerhalder, the perceived huge departure from the typical formula of the show after the exit of Nina Dobrev would be felt by the viewers on the upcoming tenth episode, which he says is the best in the current season.
Incidentally, the 10th and best episode of “The Vampire Diaries” is all about Damon Salvatore, so it would be interesting to know if Somerhalder’s co-stars share the same opinion about it as being the best in Season 7.
Somerhalder shared in a recent interview that it is going to be a Civil War episode and during the filming, he was all covered up in dirt and gunpowder with things blowing up around him. He also said that he lost six pounds during the filming of that particular episode.
He also made it clear that it was the best episode not because it is his character that is to be featured on it but because the way the story was put together, the wardrobe, and everything was all on point. He added that it was also well-executed.
