Seven episodes through in Season 2 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” on The CW, the show is about to head to its mid-season finale scheduled on December 8.
Episode 8 of “The Flash” will air on December 1 titled “Legends of Today,” but much of the talk is about the Christmas episode of the TV series which shall also be its mid-season finale titled “Running to Stand Still.”
According to the synopsis of the mid-season finale episode, the TV series will finally introduce the famous comic book speedster Wally West, to be played by Keiynan Lonsdale. Even before the airing of Season 2, it was already hyped that Wally West will show up in “The Flash” to give Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin company on his crime-fighting ways, reports the International Business Times of UK.
However, it will not just be Wally West who will be coming but a couple of villains shall also be returning and join the mix.
Apparently, Mark Mardon, the alter ego of The Weather Wizard, to be played by Liam McIntyre, will return to break Leonard Snart alias Captain Cold, to be played by Wentworth Miller, and James Jesse a.k.a. The Trickster, to be played by Mark Hamill, out of prison in the Iron Heights.
With three villains out, The Flash certainly has his hands full and would need all the help he can get to protect Central City in time for Christmas.
It seems that he will get help from a fellow speedster in Wally West, who will come to the city to visit his father Joe, played by Jesse L. Martin, and sister Iris, played by Candice Patton.
More about family
In a recent interview, Candice Patton said that the Christmas episode of “The Flash” would be a lot about family given that the occasion is all about family. She added that the family storyline has been big for her character Iris during Season 2 of the TV series.
She did not reveal much of what fans could expect on the mid-season finale, but she said that it is going to be a good Christmas episode. She added that it will feature a good villain, good love, and a good heart.
Candice also talked about the impending arrival of Wally West to the TV series by saying that everyone knows that Wally is going to appear in Season 2 of “The Flash” and that has been a huge point of excitement for a lot of fans.
However, she refuses to divulge further details on how Wally’s appearance would turn out or how their relationship would appear to be considering that her character and Wally are siblings.
The best DC villain on TV
“The Flash” got a good whipping on episode 6 at the hands of Zoom, making fans and critics say that Zoom is easily the best DC villain on TV right now, notwithstanding the enemies of Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne in their respective TV series, “Arrow” and “Gotham.”
Zoom crippled Barry Allen with his blinding speed. Although his identity has already been known to Barry before, the TV series could actually come up with another one, especially with the introduction of the parallel Earth 2.
Melty, in fact, believes that the other identity of the villainous speedster must be someone who is personal to Barry to make for an even more interesting treat to fans and viewers of “The Flash.”
The introduction of Earth 2 certainly breeds a lot of potential storylines especially with the crossover of “The Flash” and “Arrow” coming sometime next year, where the respective showrunners could surely draw from.
What is clear at this point is that “The Flash” will have plenty of plotlines to offer in its subsequent episodes which are sure to keep the viewers tuned in all the way to the Season 2 finale.
