The AMG performance division of Mercedes unveiled the totally new 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon. It has been overhauled from the ground up and comes with the latest version of super wagon boasts with numerous key improvements over its predecessor.
You should know that the heart of every AMG product is its beastly engine. In this case, it is the same 4.0L V8 used in the AMG GT Sports car. It huffs through a pair of twin-scroll superchargers, making the hand-built V8 good for 627 lb-ft of torque and 603 horses.
Last year’s 7-speed automatic has been replaced with a nine-speed automatic with dual-clutch auto. Besides having a faster shift than its older 7-speed, Mercedes also says that nine-speed is lighter and much more responsive. Power is sent to the ground through an AMG Performance 4MATIC + all-wheel drive system. Re-engineered for the latest model of the year, the all-wheel drive system has been tuned to allow optimum performance in all environmental conditions.
The system is also fully variable, which means it can exclusively operate in the rear-wheel drive during certain conditions. The electronically controlled rear differential is further included to ensure maximum traction. Every one of these cars comes standard with a variable air suspension along with adaptive dampers.
Drivers can choose from three suspension settings, Sport, Comfort, and Sport +, depending on their mood and the road conditions. To haul things down from the speed, the Wagon comes standard with 15.4inch front discs along with six-piston calipers and the 14.2-inch rotors with single-piston calipers are used in the rear.
Meanwhile, there are AMG Ceramic Component brakes, which measure up to 15.8inch up front and 14.2inches in the rear. They are also available as an upgrade.
