‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Casting of Zendaya Confirmed; Young Actress Likely to Play Role of Peter Parker’s Roommate and Defense Lawyer!

Contrary to previous reports that Disney actress and pop star Zendaya shall be taking on the role of Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot and the web-slinging superhero’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, latest reports hint that she will be taking on the role of Michelle Gonzales in the film.

The reports came out as a result of Zendaya’s casting being listed on MDB as Michelle. Those who are familiar with the Spider-Man comic books believe that it is a reference to the criminal defense lawyer and Peter Parker roommate, Michelle Gonzales, notes Screen Rant.

Based on initial rumors, Zendaya is to play a key role in the film, which means that she will be more than just a roommate to Peter Parker so critics believe that her character in “Spider-Man” reboot is going to be an amalgamation of several characters.

Many are also of the opinion that hiring Zendaya is a clear sign that both Sony and Marvel Studios are clearly putting great efforts into shifting the MCU elements into high gear.

Confirming it to Ellen

It was actually Zendaya who confirmed her casting on “Spider-Man,” reported to have an official title of “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” when she guested on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” recently.

She did not say much detail about her casting but she is obviously excited that she is going to be a part of a big movie.

Zendaya said that she considers it very exciting when it comes to acting space because she is basically unknown in the big screen.

She explained that she has never been in a real movie before so she had to start from the bottom like anyone else. She auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and broke down the walls to shut down the pre-conceived notion of who she was based on previous things that she has done on TV.

The “K.C. Undercover” star said that she had to really break that down and go hard, put in the work and take all the meetings and do all the auditions, clearly indicating that the role was not served to her on a silver platter because she actually worked hard and earned it, notes the Entertainment Tonight.

Returning in a big way

The last adaptation of Spider-Man in the big screen was in 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” featuring Andrew Garfield in the lead role.

While the wall-climbing superhero would make his debut in the MCU in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” to hit theaters on May 6, with Tom Holland taking on the role of Peter Parker, the character would make his big return in his stand-alone film due to hit cinemas on July 7, 2017.

In addition to Tom Holland and Zendaya, Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei shall also be joining the cast of “The Spectacular Spider-Man” as Aunt May.

Everybody has been talking lately about the working title of the “Spider-Man” reboot movie which somebody in the production was able to disclose recently.

Apparently, the working title of the film, which is now in production, is “Summer of George.” Obviously, the title has nothing to do at all with the film and is perhaps one way for Marvel Studios to camouflage the ongoing filming so as not to attract a crowd.

But those who are familiar with their TV series history, “Summer of George” was, in fact, the title for the Season 8 finale episode of the NBC hit sitcom of yore, “Seinfeld.”

In the episode of “Seinfeld” which also happened to be the 156th one for the sitcom, lovable loser George Constanza, played by actor Jason Alexander, received a severance package from the New York Yankees, and it was enough money for him to do whatever he likes for the summer. However, instead of spending it on fun things given his financial freedom, he choose to spend his summer by absurdly and incredibly just being lazy.
