Producers Delay Release Date of ‘Transformers 5’ from June 24 Next Year to 2017

The producers of the fifth installment to the “Transformers” movie franchise have delayed the showing of the film from June 24, 2016 to 2017.

There was no mention of a specific date on 2017 when “Transformers 5” will be officially released to theaters nor the decision on why it was pushed back.

The only thing concrete about the movie as of this time is that Michael Bay has already been replaced by Jonathan Liebesman in the director’s chair and that Mark Wahlberg, who was the lead star for the fourth movie “Transformers: Age of Extinction” shown last year, will be back, details Christian Today.

The 43-year-old actor said that he has agreed to do a couple more Transformer movies, which means that he could actually be part of “Transformers 6” if there will be one.

The confirmation of Wahlberg to “Transformers 5” also quashed rumors that the movie will do some crossover with “G.I. Joe” and shall feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis.

However, reports are still rife that actress Megan Fox, who starred in the first two movies of the franchise, will return on the fifth installment.

Liebesman also directed the film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” released in 2014, which also starred Megan Fox, so the possibility of the pretty actress returning is likely.

While there have also been reports that actor Shia LaBeouf, who was the lead actor for the first two films, will also be returning for “Transformers 5” but the information has yet to be confirmed.

More transformer robots

In January, there have been reports that there will be additional transformer robots in “Transformers 5.” Apparently, the battle of the Autobots and the Decepticons, which began in the planet Cybertron, before they took it to earth, is going outer space again on the fifth installment of the movie saga.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots will have some reinforcements from mechanoids including Ultra Magnus, Red Alert and Override in the upcoming sequel for “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” Ultra Magnus will join the cause of Optimus Prime and the Autobots because of his history with villain robot Galvatron that dates from way back.

But it will not just be the Autobots who will get reinforcements in the upcoming movie. The Decepticons shall also have their dose of support from the Quintessons, which is the ancient dark race that created the transformers.

In “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” Optimus Prime referred to the Quintessons as ‘our creators.’ Towards the end of the fourth movie, he flew into space to go to his home planet and find out why many are coming down to earth and fight the Autobots.

The Decepticons will feature three new villain robots including Cyclonus, Scourge and Blitzwing. But reports have it that the Quintessons, and not the Decepticons, will be the main adversaries of Optimus Prime and the Autobots in “Transformers 5.” With these premise, it is likely that the next Transformers movie will be set in outer space and thus, a good portion of it will be mostly CGIs or computer-generated images.
