Sam and Tim are genial screw-ups, and they are challenged to come with an advertising campaign for Chrysler through the marketing vice-president and they spit-ball hilarious catchphrases like Be nice-ler, ride a Chrysler! In Detroiters, you will find some of the guys goofing around slapsticks reminiscent of Workaholics, but the show turns out to be the best when it is exploring the duo’s friendship.
With that, the show has a lot in common with another show of Comedy Central, named Broad City. However, Detroiters has its special vibe, fueled by a clear affection for the city in which it is set. It is easy to imagine seeing an entire episode in which Tim and Sam simply drive around Detroit, commenting on their favorite aspects of the city.
The show does a great job of casting fellow supporters as well. People will be fond of the eccentric bartender, Betty. The cheap ad that Sam and Tim cook up for the hot tub king of Detroit is such a disaster that the local news anchor, played by real life Detroit anchor, named Mort Crim, gravely says he doesn’t comment on the commercials but according to him, that was really bad.
