Pop singer Ariana Grande is one of the millions of fans of the “Harry Potter” book and film series worldwide.
It is not surprising at all since the story of the boy wizard has become a total pop culture phenomenon all over the world. With the upcoming newest addition to the book series entitled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” set to make a splash on July 31, it appears that there will be renewed interest and enthusiasm on the character once again, reports Yahoo! Style.
The “Problem” singer recently showed her great adulation for the “Harry Potter” franchise when she proudly displayed on social media an amazing and unique Dumbledore jacket.
She posted a video on Instagram on July 26 where she showed a custom-made dark denim jacket featuring an incredibly detailed portrait of everybody’s favorite Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore on the back complete with the word’s ‘Dumbledore’s Army.’
Ariana captioned her post with ‘Muggle in the streets wizard in da sheets’ and she also thanked fashion designer/stylist Rio Warner and custom embroiderer Dirty Needle Embroidery for collaborating on the amazing custom-made jacket.
Serious challenge
Dirty Needle Embroidery also commended the 23-year-old Ariana Grande for the serious challenge that she has given them, citing that Dumbledore’s portrait was one of the hardest embroideries they have come across with to date.
They also expressed their gratitude to Rio Warner for the cool gig. They also cited that the embroidered design was handmade, using a free motion embroidery technique, reports ET Online.
The Dumbledore jacket is not the first time that Ariana Grande showed her love for all things “Harry Potter.” Not too long ago, she named also one of her dogs Sirius Black, after one of the most beloved characters of the franchise.
Her friends also know how much she loves the series so they made her an amazing Harry Potter-themed music video for her birthday last June.
More than five years ago, Ariana Grande also attended the New York City premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II,” the eighth and final movie of the film series.
Critics also believe that the Dumbledore jacket could not have come at a better time as she could really use some cheering up following her breakup with her backup dancer – boyfriend Ricky Alvarez.
Checkerboard chick
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande shall be taking both her acting and singing talents as a checkerboard chick in the TV music special “Hairspray Live!” on NBC.
After appearing in “Scream Queens” Season 1 last year, the Grammy-winning songstress has joined the cast of “Hairspray Live” where she will play the role of Penny Pingleton.
In a post on Twitter on July 7, Ariana Grande said that Penny Pingleton has been a dream role for her since “Hairspray” opened on Broadway where the role was played by Leslie Ann Powers and Amanda Bynes in the 1988 and 2007 films, respectively.
She also tweeted that she hopes to make Kerry Butler proud since the stage actress was the original Penny Pingleton when the Broadway production began in 2002.
Over at her Instagram account, Ariana Grande said that she has never been more excited for anything in her entire life.
Ariana joins a luminary cast that includes Martin Short, Derek Hough, Harvey Fierstein, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jennifer Hudson.
“Hairspray Live” is based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that takes place in 1962 in Baltimore featuring teenager Tracy Turnblad whose dream is to dance on “The Corny Collins Show.”
When Tracy got a role on the show, she became a celebrity overnight and got acquainted with a colorful array of characters including the resident dreamboat, Link; an ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African-American boy in detention, Seaweed; and Seaweed’s mother Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of the record store.
