The CW has just released the trailer for the third season of “The Originals” and it shows another major conflict arising between the witches and the vampires, with Davina, played by Danielle Campbell, and Charles Michael Davis’ Marcel coming to a clash.
According to the synopsis for the season premiere titled “For the Next Millennium,” the duo will now be on the opposite side of the escalating conflict.
Marcel, who now has the control over the French Quarter again, tries a new way to recruit vampires. Meanwhile, Davina, who is now Regent to the New Orleans witches, makes a decision that will find her and Marcel go head-to-head.
In the Season 2 finale, fans got a glimpse of the imminent dispute when Marcel asked Davina for a favor. In one of the season’s sneak peek videos, it turns that it’s a large favor and one that Davina will shoot down.
Marcel insists that his favor is an act of good faith and will maintain harmony between the vampires and the witches, but the newly hailed Regent stands firmly on her decision. She rebuts that the coven already thinks of her as a vampire synthesizer and she doesn’t want to prove them right.
Davina makes it clear that Marcel is on his own on this one and quite frankly, her actions are understandable. As a refresher, last season, the vampires sabotaged her plan to reprise Kol, in another man’s body, from the dead.
The powerful witch was given a gift from her ancestor’s magic that would grant her a once-in-a-lifetime chance to pass her powers to whomever she chooses on reviving her dead beau.
Her plan all went down the drain though when Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies, swapped out Kol’s ashes for their mother Esther’s, wiping out any chance that Davina reunite with her love.
Aside from Davina and Marcel battling it out, the infamous Trinity will be making a visit to New Orleans to settle a score with the Original vampires. Crossmap reports that the Trinity are the first vampires that the Mikaelson siblings have ever created.
The Trinity comprises of Lucien, played by Andrew Lees, Aurora, played by Rebecca Breed, and Tristan, played by Oliver Ackland.
Realty Today reveals that Lucien was sired by Klaus, Rebekah has sired Aurora, and Tristan was sired by Elijah. According to the synopsis, it is Joseph Morgan’s Klaus who comes to know first about the arrival of their sires.
The trio dropping by New Orleans just makes things more intense between the siblings, Elijah and Klaus in particular. The two brothers are still at war with each other after the ever noble Elijah is unable to forgive his brother for killing Gia and cursing Hayley.
The International Business Times reports that Season 3 will open months after the brothers had their bloody showdown with Claudia Black’s Dahlia and the divide between them is bigger than ever.
With the return of a familiar face for the remaining Mikaelson siblings, it entails some history for the fans. Zap2it has got the exclusive first look of the Mikaelson siblings in what obviously appears to be a flashback scene.
Zap2it reports that the flashback scene shows the siblings after they had escaped their abusive father Mikael, played by Sebastian Roche. The flashback also includes a peek at Kol, played by Nathaniel Buzolic, and Finn, portrayed by Casper Zafer, as the Mikaelson family reunite in the show for flashbacks.
This also means that Claire Holt’s Rebekah is officially back for the upcoming season. Producer Michael Narducci has revealed that the team has a lot in store for Holt’s character just to convince the actress to fully return on the show.
The season doesn’t look good for Morgan’s hybrid character. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Julie Plec recently weighed in on what will happen to Klaus and Hayley’s relationship. Last season, Hayley was furious with Klaus as she had been cursed and can only be human during full moon nights.
Plec revealed that the season premiere won’t see the two patching things up. Klaus and Hayley won’t be resolving their differences any time soon even for the sake of their daughter Hope, Plec continues.
