After all, the show started off on the premise of geeky humor and lighthearted jokes, not tense relationship drama, infidelity and breakups – so if season 9 really does have such a heavy focus on these aspects of its plot, we can easily see the show losing some of its core viewers.
But in the end, it’s been running for quite some time now, and the writers might simply be stuck on ideas for how to progress at this point. They have already explored most of the interesting ideas that they could figure out about the plot, and now, other than stirring up drama between the characters, there might not be too much left for them to do.
Hopefully that’s not the case and we’re completely wrong about this though, as many fans seem to still see a lot of potential in the production and different parts of its plot.
Critics agree too, for the most part, and it would be sad to see the producers letting that potential go to waste and turning “The Big Bang Theory” into yet another sitcom full of awkward romantic moments. Let’s hope that the future episodes will return the show to its roots and have fans laughing more often than crying with each episode that comes out. We’ll find out in about a month!
