The car-based 2015 Jeep Renegade has been regarded as a significant headway to the SUV market while maintaining the brand’s adventurous tradition.
The 2015 Jeep Renegade has been designed in the United States but manufactured in Italy but it has obviously maintained the brand’s dedication to the global marketplace by delivering a blend of best-in-class off-road capability, open-air freedom and convenience, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings.
With world-class refinements and two variants of fuel-efficient engines, the 2015 Jeep Renegade is certainly an efficient and road-worthy vehicle for the adventurous motorists both young and the young at heart.
However, because of its size and its car-based platform, many off-roaders are actually doubtful of the 2015 Jeep Renegade’s capability to handle real and serious off-road adventures.
Apparently, the 2015 Jeep Renegade has a variant known as Trailhawk which is ideal for serious off-roading stuff complete with its jacked-up ride height, skid plates, red tow hooks, and the all-important flat back hood, reports Yahoo! Autos.
Putting it to serious off-roading
Ezra Dyer of Yahoo! Autos decided to take the Renegade Trailhawk into the Uwharrie National Forest in Montgomery Country in North Carolina and test how capable the vehicle is in serious off-roading stuff as the site is full of difficult trails.
Dyer was expecting the Trailhawk to experience difficulty with the trails but he was surprised to find out that the Jeep Renegade variant far exceeded his expectations. The vehicle had no trouble handling sharp breakovers and steep climbs but its brake-based traction control had to work overtime because of its stiff suspension.
The motoring enthusiast also noted that in maneuvering over jagged terrain, the Renegade Trailhawk always seemed to have one rear tire in the air. While its four-wheel independent suspension may not be soft enough to offer much droop but when its tire gets airborne, the brakes step in and send torque to the opposite side.
Despite initial doubts, the Renegade Trailhawk with its modest off-road equipment, conquered a trail that many bigger off-road vehicles had difficulty handling or completing as evidenced by the rubber all over the rocks on the way up to mountain.
American ingenuity and innovation
Mike Manly, president and CEO of Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, says that the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade has the American design, ingenuity, and innovation written all over it.
The designers of the new Renegade took to heart the need to deliver best-in-class off-road capability but very much a reliable city vehicle. Although it maintains the brand’s rugged aura, the 2015 Jeep Renegade features versatility, maneuverability and style that still symbolize the brand’s hallmark.
