The “Super Smash Bros 4” team never planned on making downloadable contents so the announcement of Mewtwo came as a surprise to fans. However, after noticing the huge response to the announcement of Mewtwo, the Smash Bros team decided to continue making new DLCs.
With that being said, there are now speculations that Nintendo may already be busy working on the development of the “Super Smash Bros 5” which would likely come out in the Nintendo gaming consoles within a few years time.
“Super Smash Bros 4” has been released on the Nintendo Wii U and the 3DS gaming consoles so its successor game will most likely be unveiled in the same platforms, with the possible inclusion of the company’s latest gaming platform, the NX.
While Nintendo has yet to make an announcement or statement regarding “Super Smash Bros 5,” critics are of the opinion that the Japanese gaming company would surely not want one of its most prolific gaming franchise to end just like that. It is very likely that Nintendo is now in the thick of development with the game but does not want to say anything about it until they have something concrete to show for it.
