Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Screenshot Leaked, Gameplay Information Confirmed!

With more and more information about the new “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” surfacing, the game seems to be shaping up quite nicely. Just a few years ago, fans were convinced that the sequel wasn’t coming at all, as it was rumored that the franchise had been put on hold. But now, EA have decided to revive the franchise and handed it to DICE, after the original developers from Free Radical Design lost their rights to the series.

A beautiful screenshot from the game has just leaked to the Internet, showing amazing graphics as a player is riding through a forest. If the leak was intentional it’s probably safe to assume that there has been some touching-up to ensure that the picture looks as best as possible, but even then, most journalists and fans were pleasantly impressed by what they saw, and the general consensus seems to be that EA are doing a fine job so far.

The game is also apparently going to be officially called “Star Wars: Battlefront”, symbolizing the new approach that DICE have taken to its development. It’s clear that the title isn’t going to play in exactly the same way as previous games in the series, which is why EA have decided to make that clear from the very name.

It’s been confirmed that the game will feature no campaign mode, but will have “crafted missions” to compensate for that. These can be played individually or with the help of a friend – with the game supporting both online coop as well as splitscreen gameplay – and there will be a new “Partner” feature with which players can use each other as mobile spawn points, and share their progress towards unlocks.

Space fights will likely be out of the question, at least for the beginning, but players will be given the opportunity to play with a TIE Fighter, AT-AT, a speeder bike or an X-Wing – and the Millennium Falcon has been mentioned as well. There will be several prominent locations from the lore of the franchise included in this title, such as Hoth, Endor and Tatooine.

Servers will be capped at 40 players, which has been disappointing news to some fans who were expecting more massive battles like in “Battlefield”, but there are apparently measures in place to ensure that the maps don’t feel so empty despite the lower player count. Additionally, the game will support both first and third person modes, with players being able to change at any point during gameplay. Various customization options will be provided for the equipment used by the player as well, from their weapons and accessories, to the different abilities that they have access to, and players will truly be able to make the game play more to their own liking.
