‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Rumored Plotline Says Rick’s Ex-Wife Could Make an Appearance!

The official “Rick and Morty” Twitter account made a recent post that ultimately sow confusion among fans of the American adult animated TV series on Adult Swim.

The tweet from the show’s Twitter account recently said that the wait for Season 3 is now 30 minutes longer.

Some fans took it to mean that the episodes of Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” shall be 30 minutes longer while some others assumed that the airing of the TV show will be delayed.

Although the previous reports have it that Season 3 will likely return to the Adult Swim later in 2016, there have been rumors lately that “Rick and Morty” could actually air as early as July 26.

However, some critics believe that a July 26 air date is rather optimistic, which is way too far from the pronouncements made by Mr. Poopybutthole following the Season 2 finale credits where the fan-favorite character specifically mentioned that the wait for Season 3 would be about a year and a half.

That has placed the projected release date of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 to March 2017. However, because co-executive producers Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon started the work and completed it way ahead of time, the TV series was reported to be released around December 2016 or about three months earlier.

The return of the ex-wife

To most fans, however, they are more satisfied with the fact that their favorite show will have its Season 3 and it will be happening soon, if not sooner.

In addition to the release date, the other things that make fans more excited for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 are the rumored plotlines of the TV series.

There are reports saying that Season 3 shall feature the backstory of Rick and that there are speculations that his ex-wife could make an appearance. This means that instead of the laugh-a-second adult animated TV series that it has been known for its past two seasons, “Rick and Morty” will momentarily deviate into a tearjerker, reports Game & Guide.

Another interesting spoiler about the supposed plotline of the third season of the TV series is that it shall feature an evil Morty, which would be quite surprising but would certainly spice things up in the show.

Continuing with an over-arching plot

“Rick and Morty” has been a TV series where the majority of its episodes during Seasons 1 and 2 are narratively separate rather than the usual over-arching plot strands throughout the season that most shows do.

It was Dan Harmon who said that Season 3 shall be moving away from such narrative because they intend to return to the previous cliffhangers, which indicates that they want to continue with the over-arching plot.

However, latest reports have it, that Roiland and Harmon only want to do such for the plotline of “Interdimensional Cable” for Season 3 because there had been an “Interdimensional Cable” in both Season 1 and Season 2, notes Moviepilot.

Roiland was even quoted as saying that he just love the plot and it is his favorite so he would love to do it in Season 3 as well.

rick and morty season 2

Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is still months away from returning to Adult Swim but a recent interview with Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon already gave fans an idea what to expect next.

Roiland, who lends voices to both Rick and Morty in the animated TV series, says that Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” was all about the price of knowing Rick and in the upcoming Season 3, the show will start to explore the infinity of the universe within Rick’s liver.
