‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ to be Revealed at Gamescom 2016 as Take-Two Interactive Confirms Attendance

Since Take-Two nor Rockstar Games were not present during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, rumors of a “Red Dead Redemption 2” launching somehow died down.

However, game publisher Take-Two Interactive has recently announced that they will make an appearance during this year’s Gamescom which brings to life speculations that the next installment of the “Red Dead Redemption” franchise will be introduced in the event. The rumors were more than enough to ignite the excitement of fans as they look forward to the convention.

This year’s Gamescom is set to happen between August 17 to August 21 in Cologne, Germany.

Take-Two Interactive is the parent company of Rockstar Games and has been involved with the release of Rockstar’s biggest titles including the “Grand Theft Auto” series, “Max Payne,” and the “Red Dead Redemption” franchise.

The company is set to highlight other games in their lineup as well such as “Mafia III” and the recently announced “BioShock” collection.

While there has been no official announcement that the open world Western action-adventure video game will finally have a follow-up, the original game was recently added to the Xbox One backward compatibility list.

Back in March, reports claimed that the title “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West” will be making its way to E3 2016 in Los Angeles.

However, in June, it was reported that Red Dead Redemption 2 was deliberately pulled from the E3 2016 schedule due to the tragic mass shooting in Florida that weekend, but Sony’s Adam Boyes later clarified that it was not the case because Sony finalized their plans months before every event.

As per Gamerant, Sony is skipping Gamescom this year and Microsoft is opting out of hosting a traditional press conference in favor of its own Xbox FanFest 2016 event.

If Microsoft decides to fully skip this year’s Gamescom then Take-Two would have to host its own Gamescom press conference, or just release a trailer for “Red Dead Redemption 2” to the public, which seems unlikely.

Avid gamers have waited long enough for the sequel to the popular video game, the first game of which made its way to gaming consoles back in 2010.

Back in 2012, Rockstar Games have hinted that they were ready to create the next installment of the game, but nothing really came up.

“Red Dead Redemption” first came out in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The game is set in the year 1911 and follows John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun.

It was the second installment to 2004’s “Red Dead Revolver.” The game is played in a third-person point of view and received critical acclaim upon its release. Rockstar has claimed the game as a very important element to the company.

The game has won several Game of the Year Awards and was widely considered as one of the greatest video games of all time. After its release, several downloadable content additions were released. In 2011, a Game of the Year Edition containing all additional contents was released.

Fans were looking forward this year to the next installment of the game given that Rockstar also took six years before adding another one to the Red Dead franchise. Initially, long-time players thought that there was a pattern Rockstar was following with their releases.

Screen Rant notes that game developers are planning to have the sequel of the game contain an open world map the size of the entire continental United States. The game is highly rumored to be in development for the PlayStation4, the Xbox One, and the PC.

Back in April 2016, concept art for a future game in the series was reportedly leaked online fueling rumors that Rockstar Games were indeed in the works for an addition to the gaming franchise.
