New York City-based developer Rockstar Games said that it wanted to make its open-world Western action adventure “Red Dead Redemption” video game a permanent franchise when its sequel rolls out to the gaming consoles and the PC next year.
Given the level of game development talents over at Rockstar, it would be to the gamers’ advantage if “Red Dead Redemption” is turned into a permanent franchise since that would ensure that all subsequent iterations of the video game would feature excellent quality.
Rockstar Games has proven its mettle with the “Grand Theft Auto” permanent franchise and the title is already up for a sixth installment a few years down the road.
It was actually Rockstar Games co-founder and CEO Strauss Zelnick who confirmed the company’s plan to turn “Red Dead Redemption” into a permanent franchise. In a recent interview, he said that he pretty much knows the games on their stable that are going to be permanent. He said that in addition to “GTA,” “Midnight Club,” and “Max Payne,” they are eyeing to do the same for “Red Dead Redemption,” notes Christian Today.
While the game developer has not made any statement or announcement about the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” what seems clear at this point is that it is going to come out on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC next year.
There are reports that the game would be released early next year, but the chances of “Red Dead Redemption 2” coming out in the latter part of 2016 are higher since Rockstar Games always wants to capitalize on the Holiday shopping frenzies of most consumers.
Most of the rumors about the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is on 2016, since its predecessor game came out way back in 2011, notes the Express of UK.
There are also reports that immediately after “Red Dead Redemption” came out to the console back then, Rockstar has already buckled down to work on the development of the sequel which means that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is just about ready for launching next year.
Delayed by one month
Reports also have it that the PC version of “Red Dead Redemption 2” would come out a month after the game’s official release on the gaming consoles, similar to what Rockstar did with the release of “Grand Theft Auto V” in October last year.
In addition to the rumors about the possible release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” the speculations are also pretty consistent when it mentioned that there will be three main characters in the game.
According to a Redditor, who goes by the name of AnonDN1978, “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall have three additional playable characters. Accordingly, the first two characters will be Irish and Seth. Irish is said to be bank teller from Kansas City while Seth is someone from Ireland who migrated to America.
The goal of the two main characters is to look for hidden treasures. Both characters will meet in Tumbleweed, Texas. The third character will apparently be created by the players, and will be a gun-for-hire of sorts, quite like the playable character in “GTA V.”
Reports also have it that based on the supposed plotline of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” it is not going to be a sequel but a prequel of “Red Dead Redemption.”
The information is actually based on a disclosure made also by AnonDN1978 saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be set 12 years prior to “Red Dead Redemption,” which really makes the upcoming video game a prequel.
