The fourth episode of Season 3 of the British-American horror drama series “Penny Dreadful” is to be aired on Showtime on May 22 and based on the synopsis, Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Green, shall convince Dr. Seward, played by Patti LuPone, to use hypnosis so she can check back something in her past.
During the third episode of “Penny Dreadful” that was aired on May 15, zoologist Dr. Alexander Sweet, played by Christian Camargo, took Vanessa to the hall of mirrors.
When they got separated, his minion came up and told Vanessa that she had met his master in the white room long ago where there was no time.
The statement intrigued Vanessa so she came to Dr. Seward to hypnotize her so that she could recollect the faces of people whom she met during her time at the Banning Clinic. At the close of the episode, it was revealed that it was not Dr. Sweet she had met at the hall of mirrors but the Creature, played by Rory Kinnear, details the International Business Times of India.
A ‘Penny Dreadful’ kind of relationship
Fans of the horror TV series are getting worried about the growing closeness between Dr. Sweet and Vanessa because they all know that the zoologist is Dracula and maintaining a relationship with the vampire prince would spell trouble for her.
In a recent interview, actress Eva Green said that her character’s relationship with Dr. Sweet is a “Penny Dreadful” kind of relationship.
She explained that Vanessa has lost her faith but deep down there is still a longing. That is the reason why when she met Dr. Sweet in the first episode of Season 3, she immediately fell in love with him.
The actress, however, admitted that the relationship of the two really feels weird which could only happen on a TV series like “Penny Dreadful.”
The impact of the past to the present
The third episode of Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” was titled “Good and Evil Braided Be” and it showed how the characters’ pasts were not just impacting their present but also dictating the courses of their futures as well, details TV Line.
It also showed how Sir Malcolm Murray, played by Timothy Dalton, Kaetenay, played by Wesley Studi, Rusk, and Ostow, pursued Ethan Chandler, played by Josh Hartnett, across the New Mexico territory.
Malcolm’s team is confident that they could help in liberating Ethan from the beast that prowls in his heart and also help him rule the darkness at his side.
Kaetenay also made it clear to Sir Malcolm that when they catch up with Ethan, they could either save him or have to kill the evil that the American wolfman has become.
The episode also showed the return of the Creature to London where he happened to have spied on Vanessa’s date with Dr. Sweet. He seems to be happy initially to see that Vanessa looked happy.
But the Creature returned primarily to track down his wife and son when he was still Caliban. He found out that his son was deathly ill and in order to find money to support his son’s hospitalization, he mugged a man and left the person’s pocket watch for his former wife to find.
Before the premiere of Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful,” there were reports that the season will dwell on the backstory of Ethan and how he became a werewolf. In fact, in the show’s official trailer, the succeeding sequences that was shown after his return to New Mexico featured blood, murder, death, and haunting.
The plotline about Ethan’s return to his hometown is how it would affect him, the place, and the people around him.
