‘Outlander’ Season 2 Photo Showing Claire Donning ‘The Red Dress’ Released by Starz!

Less than a month before it returns to the small screen, Starz has been teasing fans of what may come for Sam Heughan’s Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Fraser in “Outlander” Season 2.

The network has released multiple stills for the upcoming season and the key art for the season has also been released a few weeks ago. But the most recently released was the season’s official poster featuring Claire in the iconic red dress.

Photos of Balfe’s character wearing the red dress have been surfacing on the internet since last month but the network’s official posters were just released last week.

Series writer Matthew B. Roberts has been very generous in sharing behind the scenes photos from the previous and the upcoming season which included Caitriona putting on the stunning red dress.

Fans of the historical drama are well aware that the second season is based on Diana Gabaldon’s “Dragonfly in Amber” book in which Claire donning the red dress serves as a pivotal moment in the novel’s storyline.

According to International Business Times, the latest image was used to promote the interactive Outlander Community, which showed off the magnificent Parisian costumes the characters will be wearing this season.

The upcoming season will see Jamie and Claire relocating to Paris to prevent the Jacobite risings by subverting funds that King Louis XV of France is providing to the pretender Charles Stuart. Historically the rise of the Jacobites resulted to the battle of Culloden.

The cast and crew have been very vocal about how the second season will be different from the first one in terms of costume.

Executive producer Ronald Moore described the upcoming season as more colorful and a far cry from Jamie’s native land of Scotland while the show’s costume designer Terry Dresbach went into detail about the monumental task involved.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Dresbach revealed that almost 6,500 hangers were used for Season 2 and that the clothing this season will be completely different as the team really did go to great lengths to recreate the fashion of 18th century France.

The Daily Record reports that Heughan recently teamed up with Scottish model Eunice Olumide to support a clothing recycling store in Glasgow, Scotland called The Empty Shop.

Heughan and Olumide donated their high-end clothing to the store in an effort to encourage others to recycle.

Furthermore, the two are also part of a larger clothing drive started by Zero Waste Scotland. The goal is to provide people with higher quality clothing and accessories at an affordable price.

The organization has set up locations throughout Scotland and has managed to attract a number of celebrities to contribute to the cause.

Aside from photos, the network has already released a teaser trailer ahead of the April 9 premiere.

Interestingly, the 30-second trailer of “Outlander” makes opposite use of a “Game of Thrones” tagline saying that “Forget winter because spring is coming.”

Despite running only half a minute, the teaser gives fans a glimpse of how stepping into French territory will change the life of Jamie and Claire.

The clip also gave a first look at a couple of new characters this season, including Romann Berux’ Fergus, a French pickpocket who Jamie finds in a brothel. Mother Hildegarde, played by Frances de la Tour, and Master Raymond, played by Dominique Piñon, were also featured.
