Nicki Minaj is making her venture into the mobile gaming world. The “Super Bass” hitmaker has teamed up with Glu Mobile on her new celebrity game, “Nicki Minaj: The Empire.”
Glu Mobile is the same company behind Kim Kardashian’s Hollywood game and the mobile games of Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.
Over the weekend, the 33-year-old rapper gave fans a sneak peak of what they could expect from her game.
The short clip then highlights the features of the mobile game which allow gamers to rock out Minaj’s star power and dress as colorful as she does.
Nicki’s game will allow players to perform on virtual stage, personalize mansions, and host lavish parties.
Players can also create songs and lyric videos, perform with the crew at the hottest clubs and music venues plus meet up with friends and hang out with celebrities.
Nicki’s fans, known as the Barbz, will be guided to the road to superstardom with appearances from an animated Nicki.
The trailer ends with Minaj saying that her game is not available yet but it will soon be available so fans should expect it soon.
Last December, the “Starships” singer teased her game via Twitter saying that her fans will be really excited of what she put in her game.
MTV reports that this new venture for the rapper means big money. Kardashian’s Hollywood app grossed $100 million since its 2014 launch. It even landed Kim on the cover of Forbes magazine.
However, “The Night is Still Young” singer is not new to the high-profile publication. Nicki is a mainstay on Forbes’ Hip-Hop Cash Kings list and is the only woman to be featured in it.
Her first appearance was in 2011 where she earned $6.65 million. In 2012, she placed 8th in the list and rose in the 4th place in 2013. In 2014, Minaj made her fourth consecutive appearance in the coveted list earning $29 million that year.
Speaking to Billboard, a representative for the “Va Va Voom” singer says that Nicki put in a lot of effort and time into creating her own mobile game and she’s very excited to share it with everyone.
The rep says that there are a lot of elements in the game that reflects the songstress personality so playing the game will be like living in her world and being her pal.
Partnering with Glu Mobile, Nicki’s game is expected to rake in sales with it. Considering the game developer’s history in crafting top mobile games, it’s not a surprise if the game will be a success.
Minaj nor Glu Mobile has not yet given a release date for the game but now that a teaser has emerged, its launch date is probably down the road already.
‘Nicki’ in the Works
Before her venture into the tech world, Minaj has also entered the film industry. “The Other Woman” star will executive produce and appear in a scripted single-camera comedy series for Freeform based on her life.
The show, entitled “Nicki,” will be about the rapper’s life growing up in Queens, New York. It is expected to air sometime this year but no official release date has been announced yet. Production began in January with the pilot episode shot in Nicki’s hometown.
Ariana Neal will be playing a young Minaj in the series alongside Selita Banks, Wesley Jonathan, and McCarrie McCausland as her mother, father, and older brother, respectively. Minaj herself will likely make a cameo in the series.
The singer has already ventured in the film and television industry with guesting stints at “SNL,” lending her voice to the animated film “Ice Age: The Continental Drift,” starring in the comedy film “The Other Woman.”
