With the reports of Season 2 featuring the demise of the Pablo Escobar, some critics believe that it shall also be the last for “Narcos” since the TV series will run out of steam and would look forced if the showrunners decide to focus on some other drug kingpins.
But if it is up to the producers, they would certainly wish a longer run for “Narcos” since apart from very good ratings, it is also a critically-acclaimed TV series.
With Escobar’s fate pretty much sealed in “Narcos” Season 2 because that is what happened to him in real life, there are a lot of speculations that Netflix would focus on the life stories of the other heads of drug cartels that rose to power after Escobar’s death.
However, the same speculations also fuelled rumors that the second season of “Narcos” could actually be its last too.
It also did not help when newly-designated executive producer Eric Newman recently stated that the future of the show is still in the shadows. He also confirmed that Escobar will indeed meet his end in the upcoming season.
Set and filmed in Colombia, “Narcos” tells the true story of notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar who became a billionaire through the production and distribution of cocaine. The show also focuses on Escobar’s interactions with drug lords, DEA agents, and various opposition entities.
