Mortal Kombat X Gives PC Gamers Opportunity to See Masked Fighters’ Faces!

Playing on a PC has its benefits over consoles, and this is something that we’ve seen in practice multiple times. Sure, it feels nice to kick back with a gamepad in the couch and have some fun for a few hours, but there are some advantages that only PC gamers have access to. Getting full access to the games they’re playing and controlling their features is one of the primary reasons for many people to love PC gaming, and a recent discovery in the files of “Mortal Kombat X” is just another example of this.

Various characters in the game were, until now, concealed under masks, preventing players from taking a look at them and discovering their identities. However, players have been digging around the game’s files, trying to find any hints about who’s under each mask – and apparently, someone has managed to solve the puzzle in a relatively easy way, by simply removing the masks of all characters.

This is apparently the first time something of this sort has happened, as previously we haven’t had such leaks of the identities of characters in the game. However, even though we’ve already seen the identities of the characters and know who’s under each mask, some of them will reportedly still enter the ring with masks on their faces.

The characters have been revealed as Ferra Torr, Erron Black, Jason Voorhees, as well as Revenant Sub-Zero. Rain and Smoke will also be joining the game, although according to reports players won’t actually be able to use them, at least initially. Of course, knowing the creativity and savviness of PC gamers and especially modders, we wouldn’t be surprised if something was released in the near future which changes the situation and gives players access to even more characters.

On the other hand, the game does seem to be trying to lock down its modding to some extent, so this might be one of the more impressive mods we’ll see for it. Only time will tell for sure, but we’re certainly as hopeful as the game’s fans that we’re going to see various mods that expand its gameplay and give players access to even more features.

It’s worth noting that Rain and Smoke will be released as DLC in the future, which might further make it unlikely that the game will see them as free mods released by the community. Even if that does happen, we can imagine that the developers will be quick to shut down any such efforts and might even release patches to prevent further modifications of the game.

So far, this installment in the franchise has been enjoying a lot of success, with many players claiming that it’s a worthy successor to the previous games in the series and that it managed to properly expand its scope, both in terms of vision as well as gameplay. The game has been taking a more competitive approach to its gameplay lately, trying to look more favorable to hardcore gamers who want a real challenge.

Which, to many fans of the franchise, is good, because some of the previous installments in the series seemed to tone down the competitive factor to some extent in favor of making the game more accessible to a wide audience. While there’s nothing wrong with improving the accessibility of the title, when this is done at the expense of its competitive potential and lowering the skill ceiling, this can obviously lead to a problem within the community.
