Meri Barber Would Not Be Making a Self-Sacrifice Only to Leave Kody and ‘Sister Wives’ for Season 6, More Details

When Meri Barber divorced Kody Brown last year after 25 years of marriage, which was aired in the series finale of Season 5 of the American reality TV series “Sister Wives” on TLC, she was actually doing a self-sacrifice.

She sacrificed her marriage to Kody in order for her spiritual husband to marry his fourth wife Robyn Sullivan so that she and Kody can legally adopt Robyn’s three kids from her previous marriage.

Apparently, in order to get custody of the three children, Kody will formally adopt the kids and his official marriage with Robyn last December 2014 is the first step in the legal process.

However, Kody and Robyn will be up for a tough hurdle as Robyn’s ex-husband is planning to give them a run for the money in as far as children custody is concerned. According to sources, he is planning to make it difficult for both Robyn and Kody to gain custody over the three kids, which would possibly be another centerpiece plotline of the show for Season 6.

Now it turns out that what Meri did is actually a supreme sacrifice because it seems that she is happy with her decision to divorce Kody but remain spiritually married to him.

No legs to stand on

So if Meri Barber was happy with her decision to divorce Kody, then the reports about her leaving the show for Season 6 simply do not have legs to stand on.

Although she did not confim it directly, Meri’s recent post on Twitter featuring a quote from Thomas Merton pretty much alludes to the fact that she was happy with her decision and that she believes that it is nobody’s business but her own.

The tweet reads: “Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy. That is not our business, and in fact, it is nobody’s business. What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbours worthy if anything can.”

It’s quite obvious that Meri wants the family drama to just be contained within their ranks and that there is no truth to rumors that she is leaving the show. The only time that people will become aware of what happens to their family is when Season 6 of “Sister Wives” returns to the air later this year.

Initial speculations on Meri

  1. Meri is a trooper to try keep up the facade. She is plainly the least favorite of the wives. Robyn is loved, Janelle is respected, Christine is revered for her faith, but Meri is known for her stubbornness and selfishness in the eyes of Kody and the others. Meri can be very unforgiving and unpleasant and judgemental. She often trys to drag others close to her down to her level of unhappiness.

  2. How does that quote mean she’s happy and staying? That could easily be taken the other way.

  3. Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, and Truely are the best of the best Brown children. None of the other children compare, although all the children are excellent creations of the Creator. All the offspring make all the Browns proud.

  4. This show becomes increasingly boring and based on unrealistic situations. They can’t be so uninformed as to think Cody can adopt Robyn’s children, simply because they want to do so. For this reason the reason given for his divorcing Meri simply does hold up to close scrutiny.

  5. Meri being underappreciated is a huge problem for the family going forward. Each and every wife needs to be treated equally, clearly this is not happening. The unbiased is overshadowed by the biased opinions within the family. Janelle and Christine are sometimes taken for granted, which in the long run can lead to an uneasy discord. Robyn and her jewelry project has not accomplished what it was intended to, if anything its been a stumbling block to what the family could have done for successful utilisation of such a huge fan base. Great opportunity has been sidelined by Robyn’s misdirected passion. Throwing good money after bad is ALWAYS a poor course of action and contributes to further monetary loss. Robyn needs to listen to the opinions of others who are more objective.

    1. Yes, exactly. Meri Barber saw the fault in Robyn’s enterprise but was continually over ruled by their husband in favor of Robyn. Agree, much money and potential was squandered and lost trying to place a square peg in a round hole, just to make Robyn placated. It’s a real pity, what might have been and the money that could have been generated.

  6. The two “wise old owls”, Janelle and Meri, should have veto powers over business decisions. They are not given to flights of fancy as Robyn often is. Robyn is immature and self willed/centered to the detriment of the good of the family as a whole.
