“Jurassic Park” was turned into a film trilogy. While the next two movies failed to live up to the lofty box-office standards set forth by the Steven Spielberg-directed first film, dinosaurs showed their teeth to the big screens three times from 1993 to 2001.
Some 22 years after the first “Jurassic Park” movie hit the theaters, “Jurassic World” would relive the dinosaur excitement when it’s officially released to the big screens on June 12, 2015.
The official trailer of the “Jurassic World” was released during the Super Bowl 2015 on February 1. It surely had fans getting very excited to seeing dinosaurs walk on the big screens again.
The good news is that Steven Spielberg will return to the fourth film in the franchise not as a director but as executive producer. Colin Trevorrow has taken over the directing job of the epic action-adventure movie that stars Chris Pratt of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” fame.
Joining Pratt in the latest of the dinosaur film are Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Ty Simpkins and Jake Johnson. “Jurassic World” happens to be Trevorrow’s first ever major franchise in his directing career.
A trilogy in the offing
Even before “Jurassic World” hits the theaters in June, there’s already good news straight from the production team of the fourth film of the dinosaur movie franchise.
Apparently, plans are now in the works for the development of the “Jurassic World” sequel because the movie has been slated to become a trilogy in the first place, reports iDigital Times.
The report also added that unlike the haphazard development of the “Jurassic Park” sequels which was due to the film’s immense blockbuster success, the production team is not leaving anything to chance this time around in the development of the “Jurassic World” sequels.
With the sequels already in mind, fans are already guessing who among the stars of the upcoming “Jurassic World” would live another day for the sequel or sequels of the film.
Spilling the beans
Fans need not wait to see the movie to have an idea on who among the stars of “Jurassic World” will still be alive at the end of the film.
Obviously, Chris Pratt as the main star of the movie would live. It’s not even gut feel but fans already know for sure that his character as the velociraptor behavioral researcher Owen would be part of “Jurassic World” sequels. He could very well be the face of the franchise for its planned trilogy.
Director Trevorrow also hinted of another character living for another day at the end of “Jurassic World” and it’s no other than French actor Omar Sy who works with Chris Pratt’s Owen character as a raptor tamer. Sy has a close relationship with the Velociraptors as their whisperer so he will definitely survive the onslaught of the hybrid dinosaur, known in the movie as Indominus Rex.
As to the other characters who might survive beyond Chris Pratt and Omar Sy, everyone else is fair game for the rampaging Indominus Rex in “Jurassic World.”
