While nothing is concrete about “Iron Man 4” except the fact that it is really going to happen on phase 3 of the Marvel cinematic universe which is around 2019 onwards, the screenplay writers of the movie could pick up an interesting plot on an upcoming comic book series on Iron Man.
The “Invincible Iron Man” comic book from Marvel that will come out beginning in October will feature Tony Stark being joined by Mary Jane Watson, who is known to Spider-Man fans as the girlfriend of the web-slinging superhero.
Brian Bendis wrote the upcoming comic book and he integrated Marvel’s most famous redhead into the world of Iron Man, notes Marvel.
According to Bendis, they were having the Marvel publishing retreats when the idea of MJ Watson accidentally got thrown into the mix of the discussion. That’s when the thought of the character getting intertwined to Tony Stark become very palatable.
Bendis explained that MJ and Tony know each other because she used to live in Avengers Tower. However, he refused to say anything further because the kind of relationship they end up having shall be a big part of why fans would buy the book for.
He added that it will be a new territory for both Tony and Mary Jane which became too exciting to write for him.
Coming on the fourth comic book
But Mary Jane Watson will not be coming right on the first comic book of the “Invincible Iron Man” series as Bendis said that Spider-Man’s girlfriend will start showing up on the fourth comic book of the series likely to come out in December.
MJ and Peter have not been romantically involved in the recent “Spider-Man” continuity nor in “The Amazing Spider-Man” movie series that starred Andrew Garfield.
In the upcoming “Amazing Spider-Man” series, Peter Parker will be a big guy CEO adventurer so MJ being close to Tony could lead to a change in dynamics between Spider-Man and Iron Man, notes Kotaku.
While there is still no formal indication that the same twist could be included in “Iron Man 4,” having the plot on the upcoming movie will sure create a lot of sub-plots and exciting ramifications.
Highest paid actor
Robert Downey Jr. has been the highest paid actor in the world for three years running and all because of Tony Stark and the iron suit of Iron Man.
He just made it to the top of Forbes list of highest-paid actor for the period from June 2014 to June 2015 and all because of one movie – “Avengers: Age of Ultron” – where he is not even the solo star. He got $80 million for it portraying Iron Man and Tony Stark for the fifth time with Marvel Studios.
The amount was more than enough to top his previous best of $50 million, which he made in making “Iron Man 3” back in 2013, and further pushed him up the highest paid actor list for the year.
His closest pursuer was Jackie Chan with $50 million, but it’s not just earnings for a couple of movies but also from his other businesses and his acting too.
Running at third is Vin Diesel with $47 million and that is because of his “Fast & Furious 7” starrer, which is now officially the fifth highest-grossing film of all time
RDJ is set to reprise his role again for another film due out in May next year “Captain America: Civil War” but he will not be paid the same $80 million by Marvel but ‘only’ $40 million. After all, the movie is not his but that of Chris Evans and his Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America superhero character.
