Various stars have been lining up to join the cast of “Fast & Furious 8”, and it’s pretty clear at this point that the franchise is moving on despite the tragedy that struck it during the production of the seventh installment. Many fans were worried that “Fast & Furious 7” would actually be the end of the series, as they saw Paul Walker as an integral member of the cast – but it looks like his legacy will live on thanks to even more films in the future, and the famous franchise isn’t going to be forgotten anytime soon.
Several celebrities, such as Michelle Rodriguez, have been expressing a positive attitude towards the new film and many seem convinced in its potential for success if everything is done correctly. And it’s definitely true that a lot of people are expecting the new film with eager anticipation, but it’s going to take more than hype to ensure the success of this production.
Are we going to see any new celebrities joining the cast for “Fast & Furious 8”? Needless to say, there have been lots of rumors about that, though nothing concrete has come out so far. Angelina Jolie could be a great addition to the cast, according to Michelle Rodriguez, and other prominent names have been brought up in discussions as well, though we don’t know which prominent celebrities are going to be added to the cast in reality.
Rodriguez seemed somewhat skeptical of the way “Fast & Furious 7” played out in the end, claiming that the film could have been done better, and she even went as far as to say that the only reason for its popularity was the fact that fans were still feeling so attached to Paul Walker and wanted to pay their respects to him. And obviously, enjoying the new movie that he was supposed to star in was the best thing many people could do to show their admiration for the actor.
That factor won’t be there for the next film (though we still don’t doubt that many people would be drawn to it just because of Paul Walker’s memory alone), so the producers will have to step up their game if they want the franchise to retain its popularity.
There might be some rather drastic changes coming to the cast line-up, and we may see a stronger female presence on the screen if the wishes of Michelle Rodriguez come true. That’s apparently the kind of role that she had in mind for Angelina Jolie, and some of Jolie’s fans seem to agree that she would be the perfect addition to the cast if she’s shown in a powerful, leader role.
In addition, Rodriguez expressed hopes that the new film is going to look past certain clichés that are so popular in the genre of action films, particularly forcing female characters to fight with each other constantly because this apparently is seen as an attractive factor by many viewers.
Quite on the contrary, she apparently wants to see women in stronger, better defined roles in the new film, and if we see a female in the leading position for the crew, that could indeed change the environment of the show for the better. Of course, these are completely unconfirmed and unfounded statements so far and we have no idea what the producers might actually be planning for the next installment in the franchise.
