‘Downton Abbey’ Season 6 Promises Exciting Journey for Characters As Show Draws to a Close!

“Downton Abbey” is preparing to bid goodbye to its fans as the show nears its finale. The period drama only has three episodes left before it closes. With this, speculations on what will happen to fan-favorite characters are circling.

In the upcoming episode, all focus will be on Lady Mary and Henry Talbot. According to Christian Post, a tragic fate is in store for Lady Mary, portrayed by Michelle Dockery.

In the last episode, the eldest of the Crawley sisters finally shared a sweet, romantic kiss with Matthew Goode’s Henry. Lady Mary also offered to see Henry race, which will leave the former reeling.

Henry’s dangerous hobby hints that something bad might happen to Mary. The promo for the upcoming episode shows Henry at his next race to which Mary will be watching. In the teaser video, Henry tells his lady love to wave and cheer for him for every lap.

Fans now expect that the race will not go as planned and something terrible is about to happen. Another hint for this speculation is that Dockery’s opinion about her character’s relationship.

The 33-year-old actress says that while Mary is in a good relationship, her life is bound to take a dramatic turn that will bring her in a dark place, International Business Times reports.

Show creator Julian Fellowes has promised that the sixth and final season of “Downton Abbey” will be something to remember. He also promised that the season will focus on Lady Mary’s love life as well as the plight of the Crawley family.

Over the course of the season, the aristocrat family patriarch Hugh Bonneville’s Earl Robert has been struggling to adjust to their new lifestyle as they are forced to keep a closer eye on their finances and make budget cuts to stay afloat.

In episode 3, the show even welcomed back a familiar face. Rose Leslie returned and reprised her role as Gwen Dawson. As per Metro, Gwen’s appearance on her return indicated that she now has moved up in the society and is not the servant girl anymore back in Season 1.

Leslie shot down rumors of returning to the British period drama last year, saying she thought her character’s story was already wrapped up.

Gwen left Downton to become a secretary. Sybil, played by Jessica Brown Findlay, helped her get a job and then she was mentioned through a letter revealing she had gotten married.

Leslie also starred as Ygritte in the HBO hit TV series “Game of Thrones.” Her character was once the love interest of Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow before she got killed in Season 4.

Cartermatt suggests that the big question on the upcoming episode is whether or not Lady Mary gets past some issues with her beau. Obviously, they love each other, but his auto-racing habit is becoming worse and problematic for himself and their relationship.

The seventh episode of Season 6 is set to air on November 1. According to the episode’s synopsis, aside from Mary and Henry’s storyline, Violet, played by Maggie Smith, also crafts a plan to surprise her family and delights Sue Johnson’s Miss Denker.

In the sixth episode, the relationship between Violet and her daughter Lady Rosamund Painswick was finally put into the limelight.

In a recent interview with IB Times UK, Samantha Bond, who plays Lady Rosamund, reflected on the dynamic pair. The 53-year-old actress says that since her character was left a widow, she has kept herself occupied with taking care of her brother’s family.

Bond says that the relationship of her character with her mother makes her realize that Rosamund is a cut from the same cloth as Violet and that is an evident product of good upbringing.

The Dowager Countess will also come to know the reason behind why Amelia, portrayed by Phoebe Sparrow, wants to be friends with Penelope Wilton’s Isobel Crawley in the upcoming episode.
