The sequel to the first-person shooter video game “Destiny” from game developer Bungie has been a hot topic online over the last few months but both Bungie and game publisher Activision have been keeping information about it close to their chest.
The original game “Destiny” has been released in September 2014. One year later, its first ever DLC entitled “The Taken King” was unveiled. Reports have already been confirmed that a second DLC, which is rumored to be bigger than the first DLC, entitled “Rise of Iron” shall also be released next month.
Subsequently, “Destiny 2” shall reportedly be released to the gaming consoles in September 2017.
However, such remains as speculation at this time pending the confirmation or denial from either Bungie or Activision or both.
Game lead designer Lars Bakken recently posted on the Bungie blog that they will be plotting more specific waypoints as time goes on, which could be an allusion to the continued expansion of “Destiny” or perhaps “Destiny 2,” cites the Christian Times.
He also disclosed that there are hundreds of passionate development people at Bungie working to turn the plan for the future of “Destiny.” It seems obvious from his second statement that he was already referring to “Destiny 2.”
Bakken also said that the future of the game shall include more adventures, dangerous enemies, and glittering treasures which all await gamers.
He said that they will make the announcement in all the usual places as soon as they are ready with it.
Release date was delayed
According to a Redditor named Mercules904, “Destiny 2” was originally set to be released this year before Bungie decided to defer it to next year.
The revelation of the Redditor was actually published in Edge Magazine and it also cited that the development of “Destiny 2” is now being spearheaded by game director Luke Smith, the same person, who also led the development of the first DLC of “Destiny” entitled “The Taken King,” notes the Ecumenical News.
With Smith taking on a lead role when it comes to the development of “Destiny 2,” critics are saying that it would be a very good thing for the franchise and to the fans especially since “The Taken King” DLC was well-received by fans when it came out in September last year.
Not too long ago, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg also confirmed during a recent earnings call that the majority of the team at Bungie is now working on “Destiny 2.”
He also revealed during the same interview that the sequel to “Destiny” is on track for release in 2017 but he has not said any specific release date of release window for the game.
While some critics are still skeptical of the game’s actual release date, what is important to gamers is the assurance and reassurance that “Destiny 2” is indeed in the works and will come out to the gaming consoles soon, if not later.
New features and new raid
As fans and gamers continue to wait for “Destiny 2,” reports about the upcoming features of the second DLC for “Destiny” entitled “Rise of Iron” have been flooding the internet as well.
Accordingly, the new content shall bring along new features as well as a new raid, a gameplay mode of “Destiny.” The raid shall be called “Wrath of the Machine,” which sounded more like it is from a “Terminator” movie.
Gavin Irby, the lead raid designer at Bungie, said that “Wrath of the Machine” shall showcase the enemy type Fallen Devil Splicer, which shall cap off the “Rise of Iron” storyline that focuses on the Iron Lords and SIVA, the nanotech virus.
The lead designer explained that whenever the raid design team begins planning a new raid, they normally set their sights on a theme that will affect everything in the activity. He said that “Wrath of the Machine” shall have a collision theme, reports Game & Guide.
Irby also disclosed that they started a lofty theme for the “Rise of Iron” DLC and then developed it into one full of action. Starting off with a number of literary and highfaluting ideas, their concept eventually transformed into smashing various elements.
The collision theme for “Rise of Iron” shall be between the Fallen faction and the SIVA.
Irby also added that they wanted “Rise of Iron” to be purely about fun and letting gamers play up to the strengths of the game’s sandbox. As a result, it may be somewhat similar to “Crota’s End,” a raid that features more action than the methodical approach incorporated in “King’s Fall” and “Vault of Glass.”
Irby also warned players and gamers of “Rise of Iron” that it will be difficult. He thought that the community might currently be prepared for something different. Their previous raids may allow players to over-level and acquire some mastery.
The new DLC of “Destiny” may actually force gamers to increase their Light level immediately. But gamers should also expect a lot of new gears and items to acquire that will help reach the new Light level cap of 385.
“Rise of Iron” shall be released by Activision on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20.
