Season 11 of the American police procedural drama TV series “Criminal Minds” on CBS started with a big bang during its premiere episode on September 30. The show did not let up on the suspense and the action-packed sequences in the second episode titled “The Witness” which aired on October 7, leaving fans and viewers in awe and asking for more.
During the second episode, a Los Angeles bus is attacked with sarin gas and the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) worked on immediately apprehending the culprit lest they face a much larger incident that is sure to cost more people’s lives, details the Christian Post.
Just like its premiere episode, “The Witness” went on to become yet another epic in the widely-followed and popular TV series because it had its usual surprising twists and turns that blended well with the riveting and suspenseful action scenes.
Guest stars for the second episode included Tim Kang of “The Mentalist” as medical supply worker Charlie Senerak and Marisol Nichols of “Teen Wolf” as FBI Agent Natalie Colefax.
Nichols came to help the BAU and prevent another devastating attack in L.A., the first of which already killed 10 people.
The BAU team eventually discovers a time-release device that is being used by the criminal element in dispersing the gas. The suspect apparently walked into a building with a suspicious bag in his hand and the team worked on evacuating the whole building before the gas leaks out.
It’s a thrill-a-minute episode just like its premiere, and Dr. Spencer Reid, played by Matthew Gray Gubler, was right on cue when he said that the kind of threat that the suspect brings is death within minutes, cites the Latin Post.
A suspenseful pilot episode
The current season of “Criminal Minds” went off to a rousing start as the pilot episode began with a case in Seattle where the BAU team found a man dead inside a drug lab.
While initial police reports indicate that it was a case of drug overdose, Dave Rossi, played by Joe Mantegna, opined that the man was murdered because the victim had his face painted with white and black making him look like he was wearing a mask.
Derek Morgan, played by Shemar Moore, also seconded Rossi’s findings and concluded that the man was the latest victim in a series of killings.
The BAU team was already down to two agents after Kate Callahan and JJ went on maternity leave. While Aaron Hotchner, played by Thomas Gibson, was interviewing applicants for the vacant slot on the team, Penelope Garcia, played by Kirsten Vangness, was helping the team create a profile of the killer.
Eventually, they discovered another body and the medical examiner found something in both victims. Apparently, the suspect was using a feeding tube because he could not use his jaw.
The BAU team later found out that the serial killer was a professional hitman who was killing his former clients. They found the next victim in a car repair shop with a grenade glued to his hands.
The team also found out that the killer was always a step ahead of them because there is a mole in the department, which they discovered to be Captain Wilson because apparently his wife once hired the same hitman.
Dr. Tara Lewis, played by Aisha Tyler, emerged as the top choice in the search for a new team member for BAU and she proves that she is the rightful pick after she helps the team in identifying the mole and capturing its first killer for Season 11. The serial killer was eventually apprehended and so was Captain Wilson.
Meanwhile, book-smart Dr. Spencer Reid is expected to fall in love in Season 11 of “Criminal Minds.”
