Valve even achieved something that many considered impossible, and successfully monetized the Russian market, despite initial warnings that this idea is pointless as it will never work. Russians were more than willing to pay for Steam’s content once it was priced accordingly, and presented to them in a convenient, simple manner.
We don’t even have to go out of the film industry to see successful examples, as Netflix has also managed to transform the landscape of the market quite significantly through its business model, and it’s very popular right now.
Cartoon HD isn’t even that different from Netflix in what it does, so perhaps some of the bigger companies in the industry should look at adopting a similar business model in order to this. Maybe it will take a few failures to get it right, but if they end up successful in the end, that’s all that matters. Once the foundation has been laid, it will be much easier in the long run to make sure that everything continues to work smoothly.
