The common consensus is that users are going to jailbreak their devices whether Apple want them to or not, so it would be better if the company provided a set of legitimate, verified tools to do that instead of forcing users to rely on “underground” developers. A situation which is not always favorable for the user.
As we pointed out above, the current system has already caused problems in the past when users got infected with malware delivered through supposed jailbreak tools, and we don’t expect that this would be the last incident either. In fact, as the popularity of iOS grows, it’s very likely that even more hackers are going to start targeting the jailbreak tools for the operating system, as well as iOS itself.
For now, those who want to be on the latest version of iOS and still get all the benefits of having a jailbroken device should patiently wait a couple of months for news from either TaiG or Pangu. The teams are currently quiet, but that will likely change soon enough.
If the rumors are true, then a new tool should appear on the horizon very shortly, and it might also make the process more intuitive and streamlined. Currently, jailbreaking a device does require a little tech savviness, but many see that as a good thing. After all, this is not the kind of procedure that everyone should be performing on their device, given the serious implications it could have.
