The start of the year is usually the awarding rites season for both films and television and it is also the time of the year when actress Abigail Spencer is seen as a regular fixture in the red carpets of most awarding ceremonies.
Apparently, the 34-year-old actress goes to the awarding rites because of the TV series “Rectify” on Sundance network which was regarded by critics last year as one of the top 10 best TV shows of 2015. That’s in addition that she also has herself some acting nominations from those award-giving bodies.
There is hardly an awarding body that did not recognize and nominate “Rectify” for Best Drama Series on Television category and Abigail is always there to support her show, which she has been part of from the start.
She started off the year by squeezing her last-minute appearance on the red carpet of the 2016 People’s Choice Awards early this month.
Abigail practically stole the show with a good dose of high-octane glamour. Her friends Kate Hudson was also around to turn heads with her 70s-inspired jumpsuit while Melissa McCarthy dazzled in a blush-color tunic and black sequin trousers, details Vogue.
Spencer’s Alexia Maria-designed mini-dress featured a fitted bodice, and the floor-length skirt overlay gave room for a hint of skin, putting her strappy stiletto sandals on display too.
She complemented her get-up with simple yet elegant accessories including a coordinating clutch bag by Eddie Parker and minimal jewelry.
An award presenter
A few days later, she was again at the red carpet with America Ferrera during the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards held at the Barker Hangar on January 17 at Sta. Monica, California.
As expected, Abigail looks stunning again on the red carpet wearing a pink dress over a black tube that featured a lot of skin on her back and a high slit below to show her great legs and high heels.
She was also shown wearing coordinated gold earrings, watch, and a pink clutch. Apart from supporting “Rectify” which was again nominated at the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Drama Series, Abigail Spencer also attended the event as one of the presenters of one of the awards, notes Just Jared.
Abigail Spencer is never short on glamour so it is always exciting for the entertainment press and her colleagues in the business to see her walking the red carpets because she is such a wonderful sight to behold.
Proud of her accomplishments
Abigail Spencer is really proud of her accomplishments last year as a busy TV actress and the latest feather in her acting cap is making it to The Hollywood Reporter’s critics list featuring the year’s top 11 performances by an actor or an actress on TV.
On December 22, the site posted its list which it describes as its electric eleven in an article posted on December 18. Abigail Spencer was cited for her superb acting on the TV series “Rectify.”
Accordingly, Abigail Spencer, who plays the role of Amantha Holden in “Rectify,” has a particular dramatic responsibility as the audience’s surrogate in facing the travails of brother Daniel Holden, played by the equally superb actor Aden Young.
Spencer has successfully brought the much-needed humor, either by sarcasm or simply donning the Thrifty Town uniform, to a TV series that often feels full of transcendental ache.
Abigail subsequently retweeted the post, obviously elated and proud of the latest citation from critics.
The electric eleven list of The Hollywood Reporter has been topped by John Hamm of “Mad Men,” followed by Andre Holland of “The Knick,” and Sharon Horgan of “Catastrophe.”
Incidentally, Abigail Spencer was also nominated for an acting award in the 2016 People’s Choice Awards. She, in fact, made it to the press conference early in November announcing the nominations for the awards.
