Beyonce and husband Jay Z may have thought of giving the rebranded streaming service Tidal a major lift when the song diva released her new music exclusively on the artist-owned streaming platform on April 4, which happens to be the seventh wedding anniversary of Queen Bey and the hip hop artist.
The new music is “Die With You,” which shows Beyonce’s undying love to her husband through simple ways. Part of the lyrics of the song goes: “I just wake up just to sleep with you. I open my eyes so I can see it’s you. And I live so I can die with you.”
The new song is a piano-laced ballad, whose 15-second snippet was also released by Beyonce on her Facebook page on the same day that it was streamed on Tidal, notes MSN Entertainment.
An intimate home video
The snippet showed Beyonce singing a song while playing the piano even as Jay Z was taking a video footage of it.
Compared to a professional video filming, the clip is an intimate home video of the A-list music couple and that adds a lot of excitement to those who want to view it. Of course, nothing can be clearer if one is to stream it on Tidal.
It was a perfect new music to celebrate the seventh wedding year of two of music’s high-profile celebrities, who happens to be the owner of the artist-owned streaming platform along with other equally high-profile singers.
But unfortunately for Tidal, someone has already ripped the video and uploaded it to YouTube, and the song to SoundCloud, which may likely be taken down soon enough to protect the interest of Tidal, which happens to be the interest of Beyonce and Jay Z too.
New era in music streaming
Tidal was officially launched on March 30 in New York to usher a new era in streaming service. The launching event was attended by a parade of topnotch music artists that promises only big things for Tidal.
While Jay Z and his wife Beyonce are the major shareholders to Tidal, since Jay Z has been saying that he has evolved into being a businessman, other pop superstars who are part owners of the rebranded music streaming service include Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Madonna, Jack White, Rihanna, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, and a host of others.
Alicia Keys was very candid in proclaiming that their new venture actually represents the dawning of a new era for the music industry at the height of today’s music streaming.
The “Girl on Fire” singer explained during her address that Tidal is meant to cultivate a sound business enterprise that promotes the long-term sustainability of music and the music industry around the world. She said that the artists behind Tidal believe that it is in everyone’s interest to preserve the value of music and to ensure a healthy and robust industry in the future.
