The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class luxury sedan from the German carmaker has been reported to come out of the market in the late summer of this year.
While there are already plenty of reported features, specifications, and capabilities of the sedan available on the internet and Mercedes-Benz retailers around the world, the German luxury carmaker has yet to announce a specific release date for its latest offering that shares the signatures of both the C-Class and the S-Class sedans.
But Mercedes-Benz somehow pulled a surprise recently when three E-Class Coupe prototypes were spotted together riding with a Porsche 911 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Everyone knows that Stuttgart is where both Porsche and Mercedes-Benz do their finest work as carmakers, notes Auto Evolution.
According to reports, the vehicle is to be a 2018 model and shall be officially called as the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe.
What looks rather interesting is the fact that all the three prototypes of the E-Class Coupe were following the Porsche 911, which happens to be the benchmark for premium sports cars even before there was an E-Class. It is possible that Mercedes-Benz is using the 911 as a basis to test the features of the E-Class Coupe prototypes, which shall be positioned as sports cars as well.
Based on a rear-wheel-drive platform
From the spy shots of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe over at Stuttgart, Germany, it appears that the vehicle shall be based on the German carmaker’s MRA rear-wheel-drive modular platform which shall help increase interior room and trunk room.
The trunk will still be extremely compact on the cabriolet model while the standard hard-top version will certainly benefit from the increased trunk space, details GT Spirit.com
The use of the MRA chassis architecture means that the E-Class Coupe shall not have B-pillars to give it a style reminiscent of the CL-Class.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe shall be offered with a selection of inline six-cylinders and four-cylinders turbo engines that shall be available for both gasoline and diesel options.
There shall also be an AMG model to be powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine, developing around 600 horsepower. There are also hybrid options that shall be made available in certain markets.
The E-Class Coupe will have the same technological-savvy interiors typical with Mercedes-Benz luxury sedans. Reports have it that the vehicle shall be released in the early part of 2017.
Outdoing itself with regards to technology
German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has long been known for its technologically-advanced vehicles.
It seems that the company has outdone itself with the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as the mid-size four-door sedan actually pushes the boundaries of its autonomous driving technology and complementing it with the styling of its big brother sedan, the S-Class.
The architecture of the E-Class has been fully revamped with a larger body style that shares the signatures of both the S-Class and the C-Class.
However, it has unique technological features that make it the most intelligent sedan from the lineup of Mercedes-Benz’s luxury cars.
Mercedes-Benz is actually proud of its work because it has outdone itself in integrating its autonomous driving and safety and infotainment hardware in the new E-Class than it did in the more sensuous and stalwart S-Class.
Because of its unique styling, the 2017 E-Class actually exudes a balanced and classic handsome look with its long hood and short trunk lid profile that lays out over a longer wheelbase, giving it a more relaxed aura than the compact C-Class.
As far as its interior goes, the E-Class cabin adopts the elegant and effusive looks of the S-Class, with the brand’s hallmark metallic trim door with circular air vents.
The dash is also covered in stitched leather and warmed by ambient lighting on some models, and dominated by twin display screens.
The navigation and infotainment display features a 12.3-inch high-resolution screen that caps a center stack that houses thin rows of climate-control switches.
