The latest basketball simulation game from 2K Sports, “NBA 2K16” is a little over three months after its release on September 29 last year to the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC, but it already exudes an abundance of content via the so-called locker codes.
Gamers make use of the locker codes to bring new content to their own copy of the game. Unlike its predecessors in the “NBA 2K” video game franchise, “NBA 2K16” has apparently gotten more than enough content to make players come back for more, reports the MNR Daily.
In addition to bringing more accessories, and some optional gameplay features, the locker codes of “NBA 2K16” also bring a chance to unlock popular players.
In fact, reports have it that the latest locker codes to the basketball simulation video game can actually bring NBA superstar greats like Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Larry Bird, Isaiah Thomas, and Shaquille O’Neal.
Once the gamers have obtained the locker codes, they can just use it to go to Options and then click on Features before clicking on Locker Codes.
Apart from the five NBA greats, one of the new locker codes shall reportedly bring to the gamers reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry of the defending champion and league-leading Golden State Warriors.
A fourth patch
In addition to the locker codes, the “NBA 2K16” has also received its fourth patch last month that included changes made to the general gameplay, as well as in the MyCareer and MyLeague modes.
The latest “NBA 2K16” patch has a file size of 2.4GB on the PlayStation 4 and it was apparently meant to fix a lag being experienced by gamers when editing and applying tattoos to their playable characters.
The patch also addresses the problem being experienced with the possession camera in the 2K cam on the PC.
It will work with existing game mode saves. Should there be additional problems or issues on the game even after the release of the latest patch, game developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Sports are sure to release a new one in the near future.
Holiday jerseys and apparels
Meanwhile, the new locker codes for “NBA 2K16” released last month also featured Christmas jerseys and apparels to share with gamers the spirit of the Holidays.
Two special locker codes were released in December 2015 featuring the Limited Amethyst Brian Scalabrine and one for the Limited Edition Stephen Curry, notes the Latin Post.
But the Christmas jerseys can only be used in the Play Now and Online Games modes. Any current modes in progress like MyLeague, MyCareer, and MyGM will not include the special Christmas jerseys.
2K Sports has been encouraging players to send their feedback regarding the gameplay or any bugs that they come across with while playing. They are also asked for possible suggestions for improvements to make the game even better.
It is also expected that the game developer should release a roster update to “NBA 2K16” this January which shall update the ratings and attributes of existing NBA players in the video game.
About a month after its official release, “NBA 2K16” went on to become the second best-selling video game in the US, next only to the Xbox One-exclusive “Halo 5: Guardians,” according to the report of the NPD Group.
The predecessor game of “NBA 2K16”, the “NBA 2K15,” was the top-selling video game in October 2014 so the current game experienced a one-rank slide.
Rounding up the top 5 best-selling video games for October 2015 were “Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate,” “Madden NFL 16,” and “WWE 2K16.”
The NPD Group also reported that software sales in October 2015 were down 3% for the year-ago period, which also reflects the 42% decline in portable sales.
According to an analyst, one of the reasons for the decrease in October’s new physical sales was the 4% drop in dollar sales for new launches.
