So far, “Final Fantasy XV” is shaping up to be a serious reimagining of the traditional gameplay of the franchise – for good or bad. Fans have been split regarding some of the changes that are about to come with this version of the game, but one thing is for sure – whether the results are well-liked or not, at least the studio is trying to do something more unique and interesting instead of giving the game a regular reboot like many other companies would.
And now, we’re learning more exciting details about the kind of gameplay that the new title is going to feature. A recent interview with the game’s director shed some light on the magic system that will play a major role in the combat of “Final Fantasy XV”, and we got an explanation on how some of the features related to that system are going to work.
First of all, players will need to find and equip special rings that will grant them different magic capabilities. In addition, the way magic is presented in this game will be somewhat unique, as players will manipulate the world around them instead of actually shooting something out of their own hands, like most other fantasy fiction tends to present magical effects.
However, the system is not fully implemented yet, and it’s a little over halfway done. There is still apparently a lot to do until it’s complete enough to be shown in more detail, and many fans seem very excited to learn what else they can expect from the magic features of the new game.
Meanwhile, additional bits of information about the title have been making their way to the Internet, including brand new screenshots that preview the Duscae area in a little more detail. Players have been hungry for extra information for quite some time now, and new releases of details like these are always taken quite well.
As we said above though, responses to the way the game has been moving have been somewhat split. On one hand, many players are happy that their favorite studio is trying something brand new, but on the other, some are worried that this game might set some poor precedents for the gaming industry as a whole.
The problem, according to those players, is that the changes might be coming a little too fast altogether, as the game is being expanded with new gameplay features in all directions and might end up significantly different from its predecessors.
And while of course exploring new options and making the gameplay more interesting is always a good idea and necessary for a franchise to survive – especially a franchise that’s been around for as long as “Final Fantasy” – it’s just as important to preserve the original fanbase and do everything possible to ensure that old school players aren’t alienated.
It won’t be the first time it’s happened, but thankfully we don’t expect “Final Fantasy” to suffer the same fate in the end. The game might be a bit of a shock to the older players that have been with the franchise since the beginning, but they could end up benefiting from the new experience as well.
They might even find that they like the game in its new form better than what it was before, and many franchises have managed to survive and prevail exactly by taking well-calculated risks and pushing their premises forward in more unusual ways that had the potential to annoy their fans.
