Bethesda Would Not Release ‘Elder Scrolls 6’ Just Yet as Developer Wants to Continue Capitalizing on ‘Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’

Game developer and publisher Bethesda Softworks has committed to disclose details of one of its upcoming role-playing games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 in June. Gamers believe that it would be a toss-up between “Fallout 4” and “Elder Scrolls 6.”

iDigital Times however thinks that Bethesda would be revealing details on “Fallout 4” at the E3 2015 and “Elder Scrolls 6” would be left in the cold for quite some time further.

The site believes that Bethesda still wants to milk and capitalize on the success of the “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” that it simply does not want to cut it short by abruptly releasing “Elder Scrolls 6.”

Trademarking pattern

Bethesda has also trademarked the name ‘Redguard,’ which many believe could be the official name of “Elder Scrolls 6.” It was first trademarked by the developer on 2011 and has renewed it for a couple of times and is still a very active trademark to this day.

However, the ‘Redguard’ trademark may also be a bit confusing from Bethesda. The developer always trademarked the name of the next the “Elder Scrolls” game on the same year that they release one.

‘Oblivion’ was first trademarked in 2006, on the very same year that the “Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” came out. ‘Skyrim’ was trademarked in 2011, on the same year that “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” came out.

‘Redguard’ was first trademarked in 2011, but “Elder Scrolls 6: Redguard” never came out that year even until today. So the trademarking pattern of Bethesda seems to be a bit off-course with regards to ‘Redguard.’ It has been constantly renewed since. And that is precisely the reason why many believe that the name would be use in the sixth installment of the “Elder Scrolls” franchise.

Bethesda has previously trademarked certain names including ‘Arena,’ ‘Daggerfall,’ and ‘Battlespire,’ but the developer simply let the trademarks expire and are now inactive.

Game’s possible setting

Reports have also started coming out regarding the possible location of the next installment of the very successful “The Elder Scrolls” game series.

There are plenty of possible locations for the “Elder Scrolls 6” since there are still a number of untapped possibilities that were not covered by the first five games of the series.

The continent of Tamriel has nine different provinces but the five previous installments of the game only fully explored two thus far – Skyrim and Cyrodill. The third installment also had Morrowind as a location, which also offered a glimpse of the island of Vvardenfell and the capital of Mournholod. Also explored partially in previous instalments are parts of High Rock and Hammerfell, and also Daggerfall.
