Download and Watch Videos Offline
Another feature worth mentioning, that was rolled out a little while back was the “downloading and viewing “of YouTube videos. This feature allowed the users to download the videos and watch them offline, without buffering, and anytime they please. Although not all videos were made available for saving and watching later, still most were.
This not only helps us save data but also great when you visit places without any Internet connection. Even when completely without any Internet connection, this function allows us to watch the video for up to 48 hours, after which the app will have to go online to validate the video again if you wish to continue watching it.
Subscribe and Enable Alerts
If there are YouTubers whom you are following, you’re most probablysubscribed to their channels to be notified when they upload any new videos.Recently Google took the somewhat controversial step of altering how the alerts work in YouTube. And now it does not alert you each time a channel you’re subscribed to uploads a new clip.
This problem can, however, be easily remedied.If you wish to be notified every time a channel you’re subscribed to, posts a new video, you need to take the extra step of clicking on the little bell icon beside the subscribe button. This bell icon will make sure that you get alerts when that channel has a new video.
