Xiaomi Mi5 Possibly Leaked before Its Official Revelation? And More News

Xiaomi are gearing up for a brand new release on January 15, and while the company has been rather secretive about the specifications of the new device, they have also been sending out various teasers about it, focusing on its alleged thin size and lightweight design. Other than that, not much is known officially about the upcoming device, but Xiaomi have certainly been stirring up a lot of hype about it. And now, a day before the company’s scheduled official launch, a picture of the device seems to have leaked onto the Internet.

And if the leak is legitimate, users are about to get something quite exciting indeed. The picture shows a device with extremely thin bezels, unlike what has been seen on the market so far by any other company. Some have been skeptical of the image, calling it too good to be true – according to that side of the argument, the picture is just a concept image that wasn’t meant to see the public, or it could even be a mock-up done by a fan.

Still, the picture does seem to match previous reports which claimed that the device will have a slim unibody design, and its thin size will actually be one of its main selling features. The phone is said to be just over 5 mm in thickness, making it the slimmest offering on the market right now. And that beautiful display will also come with an attractive Quad HD resolution, running at 1440×2560, with a powerful processor beneath the surface. It’s not known which Snapdragon model the phone is going to use exactly, but rumors are split between the 805 and 810.

Other than that, users can expect to get 3 GB of RAM, a great battery life, and a pretty good camera, according to some initial reports. It’s not known what version of Android the device is going to ship with, although it’s probably safe to assume that it will have at least Android 5.0, if not the latest version with the most recent updates. However, it’s also not clear what kinds of changes to the OS Xiaomi have made for the device – if it’s a serious step away from the base Android experience, then they might need a little more time to bring it up to date with the most recent versions of the main operating system itself.

Xiaomi Mi5

Tomorrow will tell for sure if the rumors have been true or not, but so far, a lot of eyes are firmly fixed on Xiaomi in anticipation of their official announcement. This could easily be a surprisingly popular entry on the Android market, given the right specifications and a sufficiently aggressive marketing push.
