The legendary Shawn Michaels of the WWE, the most flamboyant wrestling superstar ever, and one of the most gifted athletes in the wrestling entertainment business during his prime is now a changed man.
He no longer has that swagger that he used to carry when he was still known as the Heartbreak Kid or part of the Degeneration X bad guy group along with Triple H in the WWE. But he still supports the WWE every chance he gets since most of his life, he has been a professional wrestler and entertainer par excellence too.
On February 18, the WWE Hall of Famer was on The Rack radio show where he talked about his new book titled “Wrestling in My Life: The Legend, the Reality, and the Faith of a WWE Superstar.”
Shawn Michaels disclosed that if there is anything that WWE fans or book readers can learn or pick up from his book, it’s more about how God came into his life and offered him salvation. He added that it’s also about how relationship and reforming friendships with former fellow WWE superstars became an important part of his goals in life, notes Wrestling Inc.
Reforming WWE relationships
He was actually referring to his relationship with fellow legendary WWE superstars ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and The Undertaker. In fact, he actually chose the two to write the foreword in his book.
He said that he could have chosen Kevin Nash or Scott Hall to write the foreword to his book because he is more close to them than with Steve Austin and The Undertaker.
Shawn Michaels said that his faith and salvation have taught him that everything in every one’s lives depended on relationships. He said that he is happy to be given the opportunity to make amends and second chance with Steve Austin and the Undertaker.
He said that these are the WWE superstars that he does not necessarily hung out with but they do have mutual respects for each other when they were all part of the business back then.
A wedge to friendship
He said that his unorthodox character in the WWE drove a wedge on their possible better friendship.
So he was surprised to know that when he approached the two WWE legends and told them he just completed writing a book about his faith. He asked them for their honest opinion about him even if it is painful by writing the foreword in his book. Instead of getting spurned or hit by sarcasm, the two WWE superstars told him that they will not just do it; they will be honoured to do it too.
Shawn Michaels said that those words meant the world to him because he is now proud to say that he now has a real relationship with Steve Austin and The Undertaker beyond the wresting entertainment business. He said he is just thrilled to be true friends now with the WWE legends, among several others too.
