With regards to “The Skin Trade”, he admitted that he would actually be potentially interested in contributing to the script of the new production and he was curious to see how it would unfold from a more controlling position, but that was apparently never actually on the table.
Furthermore, not all of Martin’s fans are convinced that this would be a good idea for him, not just because of his schedule. He might find himself in a tough spot having to work on a TV script while also continuing his work on “Winds of Winter”, especially if there are confusing overlaps between the two stories that could get in the way of his work.
Martin is a seasoned writer though, someone who knows his work very well. He should be aware of what he can and can’t handle by this point, and he has shown a lot of progress in his attitude towards the industry.
Last but not least, there have been some minor rumors claiming that Martin also has a side project going on, but it’s probably safe to dismiss those. It would be pretty strange if the author really was so irresponsible with the way he manages his schedule, especially when he has so many people waiting for the new book to come out.
