Looks like Khloe Kardashian is in for the long haul with ex-husband Lamar Odom’s road to recovery. The reality star reportedly will stick with the former NBA player throughout his therapy sessions.
Odom was found unconscious last week at a brothel in Las Vegas after allegedly going on a binge with cocaine and sex-enhancing drugs. According to police reports, Lamar spent a little over $75,000 on his stay in Vegas.
He was rushed to the hospital and was immediately placed on life support. According to reports, traces of cocaine along with a herbal supplement for Viagra were found in Odom’s system.
Medical reports suggest that Lamar suffered a multiple stroke which normally happens to people after a drug overdose. For four days, the former NBA player was in a state of comatose and it was only on Friday last week that he finally opened his eyes and gave a thumbs up after doing so.
According to Lamar’s former coach Jim Harrick, the athlete is now out of life support and is slowly getting better. He even said ‘hi’ to his estranged wife who, according to Harrick, has vowed to be at Odom’s side while he recuperates.
ESPN reported that Odom was already discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and was transferred to a Los Angeles rehab facility on the night of October 19. Lamar was transported via medical helicopter and was accompanied by his ex-wife.
The 6’10″ basketball player is now at the preliminary stages of his recovery, doctors say. While he is already out of the coma and is doing better, doctors claim that it’s still a long way to go for him to achieve full recovery.
According to Latino Post, Odom has gained a stronger heart, but concerns about his organs particularly his lungs and kidneys are alarming hence those get constant medical treatments from time to time.
Doctors are telling Lamar’s family and friends that his rehabilitation treatment may take months, and they believe that an undetermined amount of damage to his body will be permanent, reports TMZ.
The former NBA star will have to deal with physical, speech, and many more therapists working with him in the foreseeable feature as his doctors suggest.
People magazine reports that Khloe is now happy that Odom is finally off the ventilator and is able to breathe on his own, but she’s still scared and concerned.
Khloe and Lamar tied the knot back in 2009. In 2013, the 31-year-old Kardashian filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, but both parties have only signed the papers in July this year.
A judge has yet to finalize their divorce which means that the pair are technically still married hence it was the reality star who was left to decide for his ex-husband’s medical crisis.
Khloe’s family has been very expressive of their love and support for their former in-law. Kim Kardashian West along with her sister Kendall Jenner and their mom Kris Jenner were spotted paying Lamar a visit in the hospital over the weekend.
The pregnant Kardashian, following her family members, recently shared a throwback photo of him and his ex-brother-in-law and captioned it with a heartwarming message.
The Kardashian-Jenner sisters have even put a halt on producing content for their websites in line with their former in-law’s condition. In an official statement, Khloe posted on her website that their apps and websites will hold off publishing content and asks support and prayers for Lamar.
Prayers and support have been very generous for Odom especially from the Kardashian-Jenner bunch. Khloe, on the other hand, is trying her best to maintain a strong face. But things are getting harder as well for the “Keeping Up with the Kardashian” reality star’s beau, James Harden.
