Few movie franchises have managed to build a following as huge as that of “Star Wars”, and it’s understandable to see such incredible excitement from everyone with regards to the upcoming seventh installment in the series. There are also lots of rumors about the new film as well, and while it’s a bit hard to tell apart the truth from the made-up ones, there are certain details that keep popping up in multiple locations, so it’s probably safe to assume that there’s some truth to them.
The most prominent rumors at the moment are speculations regarding the return of various characters from the previous films. And indeed, it seems that “Star Wars” fans would like to see lots of old characters coming back although opinions tend to be split regarding who exactly should make an appearance in the new film.
Some fan favorites like Luke, Leia, Han, R2D2 and C3PO are pretty much guaranteed to be coming back, as it wouldn’t be a proper “Star Wars” film without them. On the other hand, the fate of some of the minor characters seems to be on the line. General Veers is someone who should come back, according to some publications and fans, although it’s not clear if the writers could find a way to include him in the new film. He would certainly be a force to be reckoned with if he does make a comeback in the film, however.
And on that note, Admiral Ackbar is someone else that many people would love to see returning. His presence in the film would not only be endearing to fans who remember the originals, but it could also have some very strong implications on the storyline development, and he could definitely spice up the plot quite a bit.
Will Samuel Jackson come back as Mace Windu? The actor has been quiet about the possibility, but it’s clear that many of his fans would love to see him returning for another “Star Wars” film. His character had quite the iconic place in the franchise, and it would be a very smart move by the producers to include him, but at this stage, it would also depend strongly on Jackson’s schedule, who is quite a bit more prominent now than he was back then.
There are numerous more discussions going on regarding the franchise’s characters, and some fans seem to have quite the crazy theories regarding who might appear in the new film. One thing is apparent in the end though – Disney have a huge potential in front of them with the new “Star Wars: Episode 7”, and they should put all their effort into realizing it if they want to truly please their fans.
