The sophomore season of Fox’s ‘Wayward Pines’ will premiere in less than two weeks and Blake Crouch, the showrunner and the author of the book where the series is based on, teases fans what to expect.
In the Season 2 first look clip of the series, Crouch reveals that even though the first season received positive reviews and viewership, it wasn’t enough reason to return for another season.
Crouch says that he and co-producer M Night Shymalan had an agreement to create Season 2 only if they have a material that is worth telling to the audience.
The executive producer says that one of the things Season 2 will explore are the abbies and they are going to do it in a way that’s going to change everything the audience thought they knew about these creatures.
Crouch adds that one of the hard realizations that the residents of Wayward Pines are going to have to come to terms with this season is that they are actually living on the abbies’ turf.
Movie Web reports that the second season will be complete with more mysteries, intrigue, and thrills. It will also be interesting to see how the residents of the town get used to the idea that they are living with these creatures.
The season premiere, titled “Enemy Lines,” starts moments after the shocking events of the Season 1 finale.
This time, the First Generation implements an iron-fisted rule that the residents of the town are battling against.
Crouch says that the writers and producers decided to open the second season right after the events of Season 1 instead of creating a huge time jump so that viewers won’t be lost.
Jason Patric also joins the show as Dr. Theo Yedlin, the TV show’s new resident. Yedlin is thrown in the midst of the people’s rebellion against the First Generation.
An original resident of the creepy town also appears this season. CJ Mitchum, played by Djimon Hounsou, is the historian of the town who has a wide knowledge of the town’s complicated origin.
He is also the only person that can link the past to the present world of Wayward Pines.
As per Christian Today, Hope Davis, who portrays Megan Fisher, has been upgraded to series regular this season.
In the first season, Fisher was revealed to be responsible for the scientific research being done on the abbies.
In the upcoming season, she will continuously take part in the development of the hearts and minds of the future of the humanity.
Fox has already released the trailer for the upcoming season and the season is definitely an indication that the flesh-eating abbies are going through an evolution.
When the science fiction TV series returns, the town is now governed by Tom Stevens’ Jason Higgins of the First Generation. Higgins is the most adamant high-schooler from the first season who wanted to keep the vision and customs of the town intact.
Many seem to oppose Jason’s leadership as he appears to be a biased leader. In the trailer, Jason tells an unseen individual that he is not capable of protecting him or her of what might happen. He seems to be referring to the abbies finding their way in.
As part of educating the Wayward Pines Academy, Fisher takes the creepiness up a notch by bringing to class a dead abbie to prove that only the good abbies are the dead ones.
Movie News Guide notes that a glaring takeaway from the trailer was that some students in Megan’s class appear to be pregnant. The website speculates that pregnancy was could probably be made a requirement for bulking up the populace of the town.
