Vikings Season 4 to See Queen Aslaug Heading the Vikings!

A lot can happen in the upcoming fourth season of “Vikings”, and the show is definitely shaping up to get a dramatic return. Once it’s back on the screen, it will focus on the most recent developments in the lives of Queen Aslaug and Rollo, and there have been rumors that we might see the Queen in an even more important role than before.

There has been a recent report that claimed that, while Ragnar Lothbrok’s brother is getting ready to marry Princess Gisla of West Francia, his wife might get his duties while he is getting back on his feet. We don’t know yet if Standen is going to follow the footsteps of his brother, and that’s actually one of the points that have been discussed the most among the show’s fans.

The warrior was originally against the christening of the King, but he might also decide to convert himself in order to fulfill his own personal beliefs. Rollo’s character is going to see some changes, that was teased recently at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, but we don’t know what exactly is going to happen.

Clive Standen was recently talking about the show and the changes coming up to it, and he revealed that there is actually a pretty major reason for his lack of a long hair at the moment, but that’s a big spoiler for season 4 and he didn’t want to go into detail. He just added that it’s part of the uphill struggle that Rollo is involved in, because the French Princess Gisla is not a really big fan of the Vikings, even less of Rollo.

And according to that last report, the show is currently five episodes along in its filming of season 4, with the plan being to film 20 episodes through the year. Season 4 is going to take a while to be completed at this pace, but we certainly wouldn’t mind the wait, knowing that we’re likely going to get an even more dramatic series of events than in the last three seasons.

Ragnar Lothbrok might get into a conflict with his wife, according to another rumor, and this was actually hinted by Michal Hirst, show creator. According to him, there will be some “ugly experience” from her side, and it sounds like there will be a lot of tension over in that corner of the story.

Aslaug was the daughter of a mythic Viking hero who killed a dragon – or so the sagas say – and she has been reconnecting herself to her Viking roots, which apparently is going to make her character quite a bit darker, but it’s also going to give her more purpose and strength. Ragnar is going to have to come up against that, and it will be a major point of conflict between them.

The problem is that she’s becoming her own woman to a large extent, and Ragnar doesn’t quite like that – it goes against his ideas of the dynamics that have been established in the relationship, and we can probably understand that somewhat. Still, we don’t know how he is going to react to the development anyway, and it’s possible that there will be a positive conclusion to this part of the story.

But of course, part of the greatness of this show comes from the way its characters are constantly pitted against each other and the conflicts that are uncovered in their relationship, and it wouldn’t really be a true continuation of “Vikings” if it didn’t have a lot of tension.
