Vikings Creator Promises More Encounters Between Ragnar and Rollo in Second Half of Season 4!

Fans will witness more scenes between King Ragnar and Rollo when the second half of the fourth season of “Vikings” returns on the History Channel.

According to TV Line, the remaining episodes of the season will focus on King Ragnar and how he will try to get back on his feet following his first major defeat against his brother Rollo.

Travis Fimmel and Clive Standen’s characters had a battle in the midseason finale with Rollo winning and Ragnar disappearing, only to reappear a few years after.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Michael Hirst said that Rollo winning the battle had been the most unlikely outcome in the episode.

Hirst says that the midseason finale was very emotional especially for King Ragnar and Rollo as well as for a lot of fans. He teased that fans should get ready for another emotional moment when the show returns.

The showrunner says that the remaining 10 episodes will be very exciting and fans will really love it. He adds that it will be very confusing at first, but when Ragnar comes into the picture, everything will make sense.

He notes that many fans probably did not expect Rollo to win against Ragnar and that he is aware of their reaction towards Rollo’s win.

However, Hirst says that they took some pleasure in Rollo’s ascension and being crowned in Paris. He adds that Rollo’s win is a defining point between the brothers.

The series creator emphasizes that while Rollo may have succeeded in taking France during the mid-season finale, it doesn’t mean that the Vikings won’t see him again, especially now that he’s already a duke and an influential figure in the French capital.

Hirst confirms that Rollo’s fate will continue to be part of the story. He even teased fans that the upcoming episodes will feature a lot more of interaction between the brothers.

With this, some fans speculate that Rollo will have vivid flashbacks of his battle with his brother or that he will have nightmares or visions of him which could indicate his guilt or regret towards their battle.

“Vikings” Season 4 episode 10, entitled “The Last Ship,” aired on April 21 and the show is currently on a hiatus. The TV series is expected to come back this fall but History Channel has not given out specific details yet.

The Canadian-Irish historical drama made a huge change this season by upping the episode order to 20 instead of the usual 16.

CarterMatt notes that this move wasn’t surprising as the show continues to soar high in its ratings. The midseason finale actually drew a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographics, which is the second highest rating in all of the episodes of Season 4 following the season premiere, which drew a 0.8.

The History Channel has already released the trailer for the upcoming episode to appease fans’ speculations and wild guesses as to what will happen in the midseason premiere.

The teaser hints that Ragnar’s sons could possibly betray him. Also, it hypes up the story of Ivar the Boneless, played by Alex Hogh Anderson.

Crossmap notes that since the time jump has been confirmed already, Ivar the Boneless’ story could be a significant element in the show. However, fans know that Ivar’s short history on the show has already made it clear of what he’s capable of, which may be a concern for almost everyone.

According to Christian Post, episode 11 will show a time jump to allow fans to see how Kattegat has prospered.

While Ragnar’s loss displayed his unsuccessful attempt to take France, it was hinted that the head of the Vikings will continue to assert his power and probably seek revenge on his brother.

Fans are already aware that the Season 4 finale will most likely end with Ragnar’s death as the show strictly follows the course of events in history.
